Job Title: Data Scientist

Role Summary:
Mutual of America continues a transformation journey to develop and deploy data-driven, data science enabled solutions across multiple business verticals, as it implements its Artificial Intelligence vision. Our team requires that we work across several areas, being artificial intelligence (AI) and Generative AI, with its subfields of data analysis, data analytics, data science, data engineering, visualizations, machine learning, deep learning, NLP, MLOps, user experience, interaction with business users and integration of our solutions onto user applications, therefore it offers the opportunity to expand one’s knowledge onto all areas needed to build value for the business. The Data Scientist will report into the Vice President, Artificial Intelligence.
Responsibilities:
- The Data Scientist will be responsible for contributing to related efforts, including data discovery, business process analysis, exploratory data analysis, integration, transformation (wrangling, scaling, etc.), algorithm selection and experimentation, model tuning, solution development and solution deployment
- In addition, the Data Scientist is expected to measure model performance, improve it, and adjust the process based on feedback received
- The Data Scientist will be working with various teams across the enterprise, have a positive attitude, patience, and work effectively, with a solution delivery and value generation focus
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in data science, machine learning, engineering, or similar field
- 5+ years of relevant work experience
- Experience with data analysis and process analysis and mapping
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and MS Office applications
- Knowledge and experience in statistical, data mining and machine learning techniques: Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, text mining, social network analysis, clustering, etc.
- Knowledge of Generative AI and LLM technologies
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship
- There is a quiz provided as part of the interview process
- Ability to work our hybrid schedule 3 days in office per week
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with autoML and auto data science tools (e.g., Dataiku’s DSS is highly preferred)
- Experience with LLMs, Prompt Engineering, and GenAI solution development and deployment
- Experience with the AWS machine learning stack and AWS data pipelines and related services (Sagemaker, EC2, S3, ElasticSearch, etc.)
- Familiarity with deep learning packages and deep learning architectures (such as Keras, TensorFlow, PyTorch, NLP techniques, CNNs, RNNs, LSTMs, Transformers, etc.)
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Qlik, Tableau, PowerBi)
- Application development (full stack, emphasis on UI)
