Job description

We are looking for a Data Scientist! The Data Scientist harnesses the largest pediatric healthcare dataset in the nation to deliver analytics, insights, and solutions that help us create a healthier future for our global community. The individual in this role delivers data analytics and supports the development and implementation of advanced analytic tools to meet the needs of teams throughout the organization. Works with a multidisciplinary team to design, develop, and
create analytical solutions through applications of data mining, machine learning, artificial intelligence (AI), and emerging technologies. Collaborates with clinical, business, and information systems team members to ideate and create new analytic.

Teaches developers, architects and analysts how to work effectively with vast quantities of data.
The Data Scientist provides data science and statistical support for advanced analytics projects at Texas Children's Hospital. Analyzes and interprets clinical, operational, and other data to provide insight into care delivery and operational initiatives. Responsible for
evaluating data quality, preparing data, generating insights, and developing and presenting high-impact data stories. Serves as a subject matter expert associated with data analysis processes, advanced analytics techniques, statistics, and meaningful.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Ability to make sense of uncertainty, work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment, and find a solution when requirements are not clear
Broad understanding and demonstrated history of applying various algorithms to business use cases to drive business and customer value
Strong modeling foundation, ability to develop and interpret, hands-on expertise with data mining and statistical modeling techniques such as clustering, classification, regression, tree-based methods, neural nets, anomaly detection, visual
analytics, and natural language processing
Knowledge of basic and advanced statistical methods
Expertise in modern advanced analytical tools and programming languages, such as Python, R, Scala, SAS, or SPSS
Understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, etc.
Experience utilizing relational, SQL, and noSQL databases
Experience developing predictive and/or prescriptive models
Preferred experience with Natural Language Processing
Preferred experience with API design, build and implementation
Preferred experience with Microsoft Azure
Preferred experience with Deep Learning tools such as TensorFlow
Preferred experience or exposure to the healthcare industry
Preferred knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
Preferred project management experience - Agile - Scrum, KANBAN
QUALIFICATIONS
Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children's, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.

Education:
- Master's Degree [Data science, mathematics, computer science, statistics, engineering, analytics, life sciences, economics, finance, business or a specific healthcare field (such as nursing, pharmacy, respiratory, etc.)]
- Ph.D. preferred

Experience
- 3 years' experience in data science, data analytics, business analysis, data modeling, statistical analysis, statistical modeling, or machine learning
Additional Experience
A PhD may substitute for 2 years of experience.
