SalaryWe are seeking a driven and analytically minded mid-level Data Scientist II with a strong data science foundation and demonstrated experience in Computer Vision, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to join our team which largely focuses on solving image processing problems. The ideal candidate will be a bridge between the intricate world of data analytics and the real-world challenges of the insurance sector. You will engage in solution implementation, advanced modeling, and analytical techniques to provide critical insights and drive data-driven strategic decisions.
Essential Functions:
1. Modeling: Develop and deploy statistical, machine learning, and AI models to derive insights from vast datasets, improve underwriting, predict claims, and drive other key business outcomes.
2. Research & Development: Stay abreast of the latest developments in data science, incorporating new techniques and methodologies into our processes to keep us ahead in the insurance industry.
3. Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA): Dig deep into our data to uncover trends, anomalies, and opportunities, converting these insights into actionable recommendations.
4. Solution & System Design: Architect, design, and help implement data-driven systems and platforms ensuring scalability, efficiency, and robustness.
5. Project Planning & Leadership: Drive data-driven projects from conception to execution. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment, efficacy, and timeliness.
6. Communication: Translate complex findings into understandable insights and present them to directors, managers, and other stakeholders. Facilitate data-driven decision-making across the company.
7. Software Engineering & Data Engineering: Develop and maintain efficient data pipelines, ensuring data integrity, availability, and optimization. Collaborate with platform and data engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of models into production systems.

Requirements:
- A Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field and at least 3 years of relevant work experience or a PhD in these fields with at least 1 year of relevant work experience.
- 3+ years’ experience with and solid proficiency in machine learning techniques and predictive modeling.
- 3+ years’ experience with and solid proficiency in a programming language such as Python.
- 2+ years’ experience with deep learning frameworks and tools like PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, Detectron2, OpenMMLab, PaddlePaddle, etc.
- 2+ years’ experience with training, fine-tuning, and evaluating deep learning/Computer Vision models (e.g., image classification, object detection, image segmentation, multimodal models, LVLM, OCR, etc.), ideally on distributed systems.
- 1+ years’ experience with SQL and big data processing tools such as Apache Spark and Snowflake.
- 1+ years’ experience with cloud-based services such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or GCP, and exposure to deployment of AI/ML inferencing services via CICD pipelines and K8 clusters.
- 1+ years’ experience working knowledge of SOTA deep learning/Computer Vision architectures.
- 1+ years’ experience working with container runtimes such as Docker or model accelerators such as ONNX/TensorRT.
Location Requirements:
- The primary hiring location of this position is Chevy Chase, MD, with additional locations available in the job posting.
- Associates are expected to work hybrid schedule, 3 days in the office every week.

Annual Salary
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
