Job Summary:
In this role as a Data Scientist, you will report to the Senior Manager Analytics, and will be primarily responsible for integrating data storage, data query tools, scripting language(s) and data visualization (PowerBI and Tableau) to provide business leaders with visibility and data-driven decision-making support in the Procurement and Supply Chain domain. As a member of the SPPD Business Insights team, you will need to have a growth mindset, promote continuous improvement, and help build a defect-free culture. What you will do:
Lead requirements definition and scoping of data analyses; present and report possible business insights to management using data visualization technologies.
Independently execute data gathering, data mining, and data processing processes; create appropriate data models and visualizations to support business decisions.
Develop subject matter expertise in the Supply Chain and Procurement data domains.
What skills you will have:
Business Data Analysis : Knowledge of business data analysis; ability to collect, identify, analyze and interpret business data using various kinds of techniques to meet business needs and requirements.
Level Working Knowledge:
• Collects required business data through various data sources.
• Utilizes designated data analysis software (both internal and external) to analyze business data.
• Investigates data requirements in the business data analysis process.
• Applies data analysis and data modeling techniques to establish, modify, and maintain business data structures and associated components.
• Writes analysis reports to assist decision making at the senior level.
Analytical Thinking : Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
Level Working Knowledge:
• Approaches a situation or problem by defining the problem or issue and determining its significance.
• Makes a systematic comparison of two or more alternative solutions.
• Uses flow charts, Pareto charts, fish diagrams, etc. to disclose meaningful data patterns.
• Identifies the major forces, events and people impacting and impacted by the situation at hand.
• Uses logic and intuition to make inferences about the meaning of the data and arrive at conclusions.
Query and Database Access Tools : Knowledge of data management systems; ability to use, support and access facilities for searching, extracting and formatting data for further use.
Level Working Knowledge:
• Defines, creates and tests simple queries by using associated command language in a specific environment.
• Applies appropriate query tools used to connect to the data warehouse.
• Obtains and analyzes query access path information and query results.
• Employs tested query statements to retrieve, insert, update and delete information.
• Works with advanced features and functions including sorting, filtering and making simple calculations.
Education and Experience requirement:
Bachelor’s degree plus at least 3 years of experience
In lieu of degree – 7+ years of experience
Experience in SQL coding, and common data visualization environments such as Tableau or PowerBI
Self-starter with strong technical leadership skills
Ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the work group
Top Candidates will also have:
Experience with SAS and/or Python
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience with databases such as Oracle, Snowflake, and MySQL

The primary location for this position is Mossville, IL
