YOUR IMPACT
This role contributes to Wingstop’s success by collaborating with multiple departments to support data driven business decisions through building models that optimize, predict, and generates insight.
Our goal is to translate business questions into usable decision support products, visualizations & self-service tools that democratizes data across the entire Wingstop enterprise.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Wingstop is looking for full-stack data scientists with experience in machine learning and algorithm development to join our team. This role reports to the Director, Business Intelligence & Analytics and will work closely with Finance, Operations, Marketing and others to support strategic growth initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have mathematical and statistical expertise, along with natural curiosity and a creative mind. While mining, interpreting, and cleaning our data, this team member will be relied on to understand the business questions and objectives, ask questions, connect the dots, and uncover hidden opportunities for realizing the data’s full potential. As part of our team, the data scientist will build and enhance models that specialize in optimization and prediction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with stakeholders to understand business objectives and requirements.
- Collaborate with other data scientists, analysts, and team members to drive data initiatives.
- Support building a project roadmap with input into approach, selection of algorithms, how we define success and update stakeholders.
- Data Analysis and Interpretation:
- Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
- Develop and implement statistical models for predictive and prescriptive analysis.
- Interpret complex data sets and communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Model Building, Optimization and Monitoring:
- Design, implement, and deploy machine learning models for various business applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate machine learning models into existing systems.
- Optimize models to ensure accuracy is within bounds, improve model performance and fine-tuning.
- Monitor and alert relevant teams to key metrics and KPI’s.
- Data Visualization and Story Telling:
- Create clear and compelling visualizations to communicate data-driven insights.
- Utilize tools such as Power BI or others to present data in a user-friendly manner.
.Experience/Qualifications:
- Expert level experience with Python, SQL, R and ML algorithms.
- Experience with building and tuning time series forecasting ML algorithms such as ARIMA, XGBoost, MLForecast, Prophet
- Fluent with MPP databases such as Snowflake’s Snowpark is preferred.
- Have experience with deep learning libraries like TensorFlow and/or PyTorch is highly desirable as well as experience with Spark and/or Hadoop.
- Have/had hands-on experience with Python, Java or Scala and the ability to write reusable and efficient code to automate machine learning pipeline and data processes.
- Possess exceptional visualization acumen, with expert communication and data presentation and storytelling skills, to produce relevant, standard, or custom information (reports, charts, graphs, and tables) from structured data sources by querying data repositories and generating the associated information.
- Experience leveraging various forms of data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical).
- Ideal: Experience in natural language processing (NLP) is a plus.
- Ideal: Experience partnering with onshore/offshore and FTE teams and matrixed project structures.
- Ideal: Experience in restaurant, retail, or hospitality is a plus.
- Experience using multiple data and analytics tools (Snowflake, Profisee, SAP BW, Power BI, Tableau)
- Ideal: Experience with 3rd party data enrichment and marketing tools (D&B, Loqate. Epsilon)
- Ideal: Experience with multiple SDLCs including Agile methodologies utilizing Scrum, SAFe, Kanban
- Ideal: Understanding of Master Data Management principles, architectures, and patterns.
- Ideal: Experience with multiple ERP/HCM/EPM platforms a plus
- BS or Masters with concentration in quantitative discipline - Stats, Math, Comp Sci, Engineering, Econ, Quantitative Social Science or similar discipline.
- Certification in Data Science or analytics (e.g., Certified Analytics Professional, SnowPro Certified Advanced Data Scientist)
- Minimum 5-7 years of industry experience applying advanced analytics/machine to solve practical problems.
