About the Role and Program
Are you great with data and problem solving? We are seeking a highly motivated and inquisitive Data Science Graduate Intern to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a key role in developing and implementing machine learning models to detect fraud, identify targets for paid sharing initiatives, and optimize payment processes etc. You will partner with other data scientists, product managers, and engineers to build and deploy robust models that supply a safe and secure user experience. What You Will Do
- Develop, train, and evaluate machine learning models to detect fraud, identify targets for paid sharing initiatives, and optimize payment processes etc.
- Thoroughly analyze and interpret data to identify patterns and generate insights.
- Design and implement data pipelines to prepare data for model training and evaluation.
- Supervise model performance and find opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams to translate insights into actionable solutions.
- Write clear and concise documentation of your work.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms and techniques.
- Experience with Python and popular machine learning libraries (e.g., scikit-learn).
- Experience with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., pandas, matplotlib, seaborn).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability and interest in solving problems and communicating ideas with clarity.
- Attention to detail and a passion for data-driven solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with large datasets.
- Programming proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Experience with distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Spark).
Education
- Currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or other equivalent program.
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all the below requirements:
- At the time of application, be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program AND returning to school the semester/quarter following the internship OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Possess unrestricted work authorization
- Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College Program
Additional Information
- The approximate dates of this internship are May/June through July/Aug 2024
- Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in New York, NY
- Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
