Position Summary

The Data Science Engineer– with health-related Data Science experience - will help drive healthcare analytics, artificial intelligence and interoperability product initiatives at Forcura.  The ideal candidate will enjoy working within a team of information services, business intelligence, and software engineering staff to expand Forcura’s post-acute healthcare products.  This includes researching data sources, curating information, and applying the data sources to bring efficiencies and improve decision support processes for Forcura’s clients.  This individual must be a top-shelf communicator, self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems, and products.

This position will work closely with client stakeholders, Forcura product managers, and cross-functional IT teams and requires excellent healthcare information knowledge. This position will also work with product management in organizing, participating, and leading working groups to develop analytic products and byproducts and develop processes leading to effective optimization of analytic and workflow activities.

Job Duties

• Mine and curate health information and transform the information to make it valuable to healthcare practitioners/providers – including clinical coding in at least two of the following areas: acute care, home health, hospice, therapy, skilled nursing, behavioral health, infusion services.
• Synthesize disparate facts from multiple sources and coalesce into an accurate and useful analytic product in support of client tactical and strategic decision making
• Maintain documentation for models, algorithms, and data processes to facilitate knowledge sharing and reproducibility.
• Aggregate and analyze health data to respond to questions from the various staff and clients.
• Provide research in identifying and applying national/standardized benchmarks and thresholds to health compliance metrics.  Implement best practices with regards to security and privacy – e.g., knowledge of PHI compliance rules, HIPAA, HITRUST. 
• Effectively and clearly communicate analytical discoveries and make appropriate recommendations to all levels of Forcura staff and clients
• Lead efforts in information tagging, machine learning training, and show experience in applying these skills to machine learning algorithms to solve problems.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, equivalent work experience, and/or certifications in health informatics and health analytics preferred.  Other majors with significant data mining, information management, decision support and workflow processes will be considered.
• 2-5 years of relevant work experience, which may include prior roles as a data scientist, machine learning engineer, or software engineer.
• Strong data modeling skills and the application of predictive analytics. 
• Familiar with MS SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), MS SQL Server, Postgres, MongoDB and/or other structured and unstructured data stores.
• Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following: Python, R, SQL, Reporting Tools – including MS SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
• Expert in the application of data from Health Information Exchanges as well as the rules required to formulate analytics and/or information linkages – to bring insight and efficiencies.
• Experience in implementing informatics methods and agile engineering practices.

Work Environment

• This role reports into Forcura’s Jacksonville, FL, offices.
