Job description

We are looking for a Data Quality (DQ) Analyst for our Enterprise Data Team. The DQ analyst will be primarily responsible for analyzing Data Quality on the Cloud Data Warehouse that is built on data sourced from multiple Brands, data sources and domains. In this role, the candidate, while collaborating with various stakeholders, will be responsible for ensuring that the data that is presented at the consumption layer meets standards of cross-brand consistency, uniformity of business definition and business rule-based conformity. The candidate will be expected to be proficient in SQL with experience of working in technology platforms like Snowflake, Databricks and SQL Server. She will be able to profile, analyze and share results across the team. While she will work closely with the Data Engineering team and the Product Owner, she will also be collaborating with Data Governance professionals, Solution Architects and QA. The DQ Analyst will have well rounded concepts on Data Quality and be able to create DQ rules for suggested implementation based on source system data analysis. She will also be working closely with the Data Catalog team for updating metadata in Data Catalog with the relevant DQ information about Data assets.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Profile new data sources, primarily through SQL and open-source tools; Derive insights and share with the team; Create and review data profiling reports and document meaningful insights
  • Identify edge use cases, data anomalies, and outliers as an outcome of Data Profiling activity
  • Suggest DQ rules for implementation (monitoring rules and cleansing rules) based on data analysis/data profiling performed with approval from the Product Owner
  • Familiarity with trend analysis in the context of Data Quality
  • Help the resources in the Data Catalog team to update the data dictionary in the Enterprise Data Catalog with relevant DQ information for relevant Data Assets
  • Ability to validate suggested DQ rules from tools that offer AI/ML-based DQ rule discovery by collaborating with Product and Business teams
  • Own the custom-built internal DQ framework and manage the rules implemented in it
  • Analyze source systems data using SQL to evaluate business needs and drive requirement work
  • Co-ordinate with multiple cross-functional teams and have good inter-personnel skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
  • 4-year degree in computer science, data science, information science or related field, or equivalent work
  • Minimum 6 years total IT experience; 3-4 years as Data Quality Analyst experience necessary
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of Experience working in a Data warehouse environment would be required. The candidate must have technical skills as contrasted from a Business Analyst with only requirement gathering experience.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, OR ABILITIES
  • Experience working in a data warehouse environment along with experience in analyzing cross-object, cross-domain relationships
  • Understanding of Data Quality concepts- data profiling, data cleansing
  • Ability to propose DQ rules based on Data Profiling results
  • Ability to identify edge use cases, data anomalies, outliers
  • Awareness of dimensions of Data Quality
  • Should understand relational concepts in slowly changing dimensions
  • Good SQL skills required- the ability to articulate real-life data scenarios with SQL
  • Skills in handling data from various sources in Excel, Access, and Word editors
  • Good communication and collaboration skills; Ability to work with multiple stakeholders in a dynamic large program
  • Knowledge of DQ issues related to demographic data elements
  • Ability to effectively communicate with Product Managers and Business Users to drive Data Quality improvement
  • Experience in using a DQ tool is a plus
  • Experience working in the Hospitality industry, especially a QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) company is good to have
