Summary:
The Data Manager I will provide clinical data services for the Data Bank and Biorepository Shared Resource. The Data Manager I will abstract data from the electronic medical record or other institutional source and accurately enters data into a data collection system and provides documentation related to the use of the data collection systems including any new procedures for collection of data. The Data Manager I may be responsible to attend meetings related to the project and assist preparing regular reports as requested by management. The Data Manager I will also process research data requests and basic data analysis in a timely manner and properly documents. They also assist senior staff with projects and research requests as necessary. They will:
• Provides clinical data services for a Data Bank and BioRepository Shared Resource, fulfilling requests in a timely manner; abstracts data from the medical record or other institutional sources and accurately enters into a data collection system; provides documentation related to the use of the data collection systems used including any new procedures for collection of data; aids upper-level data management staff as necessary. Will annotate biospecimens with data.
• Acts as a certified honest broker; de-identifies data following HIPAA regulations; keeps de-identification keys in the appropriate location and with appropriate security.
• Assist DBBR Biospecimen Recruitment Coordinators, ranging from contacting patients or healthy controls, consenting, follow-up on questionnaires.
• Abstracts patient data from the medical record or other institutional sources and enters into appropriate data collection tool, currently using LIMS, Access, and REDCap. Keeps data organized on shared servers or other appropriate filing location.
• Monitors data for completeness and accuracy; helps in defining queries necessary for monitoring of data accuracy and completeness; runs queries and reports to identify discrepant/inaccurate data entry; identifies reasons for inaccuracy and sends queries to appropriate personnel to correct and complete the data.
• Updates DBBR publication spreadsheet
• Attends meetings as required.
• Complete diet recalls, questionnaire review/recall
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Starting salary for this position is $49,332 annually which includes a comprehensive benefits package.
Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience
1. Bachelor's degree and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time experience in a clinical trials and/or research environment; or
2. Associate's degree and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time experience in a clinical trials and/or research environment.
NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
The preferred candidate will have a degree in a science or health related field, previous data abstraction experience; working with EHR, previous data management experience, and Scientific research experience. They will also have working knowledge of MS Excel, Access, database design and SQL, strong organizational skills, and knowledge of oncology medical data a plus.
