Data Intelligence Analyst

As a member of the Knowledge Management Department, the Data Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for collecting, extracting, cleansing, transforming, managing, analyzing and visualizing data to help develop innovative and efficient solutions for the Firm and its clients.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Perform data analysis in support of finding trends, patterns, and useful outcomes. This is including but not limited to drawing conclusions, presenting data in a meaningful way, and determining supporting trends.
• Assist in developing complex analytical dashboards and solutions for departments, practice groups, partners, legal staff, firm management, and administrative users.
• Leverage firm intelligence system to provide actionable data and insightful analysis.
• Combine internal and external data to create and custom insights to enhance business development and solve client problems.
• Collaborate with attorneys and paralegals in producing substantive reports and analytics that pertain to industry and clients.
• Assist in developing standards for reporting and appropriate benchmarks for identified firm goals.
• Assist in determining requirements for centralized, governed data sources and develop processes to ensure accuracy of data.
• Develop key performance indicators to meet the requirements of key business drivers.
• Perform ad hoc analysis as needed.
• Participate in department/practice group meetings.
• Stay abreast on trends in the legal industry and advise leadership on best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS (EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES):

Education:    

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Science and Technology, or similar field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

• Minimum of three years of related experience in a legal or professional services environment.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Creative, capable of solving complex problems and comfortable working both independently and part of a larger diverse team.
• Ability to identify and implement creative solutions to enhance productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness of operations, systems and procedures.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
• Strong organizational and project management skills and ability to prioritize and multi-task with a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must have superior presentation, written and verbal communication as well as the ability to be proactive in tailoring communications effectively for different groups and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of and ability to use online resources, including Westlaw, Bloomberg, Capital IQ and other types of web-based services.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word and a basic understanding of Foundation/Litera.
• Possess an understanding of data science concepts: probability, statistics, hypothesis testing, machine learning, natural language processing, predictive modeling and data visualization. Experience with some or all of the following basic data visualization and science tools: Power BI, Qlik, Tableau, Excel, Python, R, SQL, SAS, NLTK, Scikit-Learn, and Jupyter.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Sedentary work: Exertion of physical strength to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds. Work involves sitting most of the time.  Walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.

VISUAL ACUITY

Worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as:  preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
