Job Summary:
The Raytheon Data Science & Technologies group leads interdisciplinary applied research and development efforts, which span fundamental research, concept development, trade studies and rapid prototyping for customized engineering products and services.
This position is an onsite role.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:

• Mature and further develop Data Fabric/Mesh to modernize and transform US Govt program networks.
• Work with broader Raytheon technical leadership and key project stakeholders to elicit requirements, define and execute the Data Fabric/Mesh strategy.
• Interact as technical SME with technical leadership, management, and provide technical guidance to implementation team.
• Recommend open-source technologies as appropriate.
• Hands-on code with implementation team.
• Meet with potential customers and partners in cooperation with Supply Chain.
• Work to influence stakeholders and customers regarding the value of the technologies and current capabilities.
• Synthesize and articulate functional and non-functional requirements.
• Design on-going technical solutions for data movement across operational networks.
• Ensure compliance to current modular, open and distributed architecture. Recommend architecture enhancements as Customer operational requirements change.
• Conduct proof-of-concept validations with Customers.
• Coordinate with partners to ensure their modules interoperate as expected.
• Develop and recommend modern architecture components in support of data catalogs, data governance, data pipelines and data storage for consumption by data users.
• Successfully implement the recommended data architecture for given use cases.
• Help manage moderately sized projects or processes.
• Solve difficult and often complex problems.
• Work with minimal oversight from manager.
• Coach, mentor and delegate work to geographically dispersed team members.

Basic Qualifications:

• Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience.
• Data Management and Data Fabric/Mesh advanced to expert knowledge or other data implementation experience.
• Strong software architecture experience, particularly for cloud and other distributed environments.
• Experience with software architecture patterns.
• Experience writing unit tests.
• Experience with agile software development practices.
• Experience with containers, Linux terminal and Git version control.
• Knowledge and skill in at least one language, ex. Python, Scala, Java, Go lang.
• Experience designing and implementing APIs.
• Experience designing and implementing Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA) and Microservices.
• Experience and knowledge working with AWS and/or Azure.
• Excellent communication skills with ability to convey complex, technical info in an understandable manner, adjusting to the audience.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues, determine root cause and present suggested solutions.
• Willingness to share experience with more junior engineers.
• Ability to handle competing priorities flexibly and address each in an effective and timely manner in a fast-paced working environment.
• Keep pace with or even establish the state of the art in software development.
• Active and transferable Top Secret U.S. government issued security clearance with ability to obtain SCI is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced degree in related STEM field and minimum 5 years' experience.
• Experience with US Govt contracting.
• Solution Architecture with focus on Data; Requirements capture, conceptual and contextual architectures, technology selection, detailed design and planning.
• Experience with data architecture, data modeling, schema design and development.
• Experience with scalable messaging systems, ex. Kafka.
• Experience designing and implementing code for disconnected, intermittent, and low bandwidth (DIL) environments.
• Experience with Chaos Engineering and Performance, Scalability, and Resilience (PSR) Testing.
• Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new languages.
• Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Git, Atlassian Suite, Open Source, various languages, ex. Java, Python.
• Current/Active TS/SCI clearance.

This position can be staffed in Aurora, CO, Richardson, TX, or Sterling, VA

The salary range for this role is 94,000 USD - 196,000 USD; however, RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
