Data Engineer - Financial, Clinical, Quality & Pop Health - Epic Cogito
Not 100% remote, will be required to be on site at times. Must be a resident of WA or OR.
MUST HAVE EPIC COGITO EXPERIENCE - This position will require on-site work initially and could be remote for residents of WA or OR only.

We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Data Engineer to contribute to the advancement of our healthcare data analysis and reporting capabilities. Responsible for the development and maintenance of enterprise data management systems including the data warehouse at Vancouver Clinic. This position creates extract code and data pipelines, manages data transformation and secure transmission, and maintains meticulous source control.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Build and automate various Extract, transform and load (ETL) processes across the organization.
  • Design, create, test, deploy, and maintain systems to support data models and perform analysis for strategic initiatives primarily related to financial metrics, Population Health and quality - including risk adjustment and quality measures.
  • Identify areas of automation and develop innovative solutions to offload manual tasks.
  • Manage large databases, stored procedures and SSIS jobs.
  • Design, construct, maintain and troubleshoot organization's data architecture, including data warehouse servers in close collaboration with IT services.
  • Develop and maintain data quality, reliability and integrity.
  • Document data lineage and maintain data dictionary following data governance policies. Develop and maintain data flow diagrams and documentation.
  • Collaborate with teams supporting high visibility strategic initiatives, including process improvement, and strategic business line and financial initiatives.
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of TVC end user workflows, financial, clinical, quality and Population Health systems, and operations.
  • In coordination with others, identify appropriate reporting, dashboard, and other analytic solutions for end user needs and ensures consumer satisfaction.
  • Audit peer reports and reviews upgrade documentation related to Clarity features and Crystal reporting to determine how best to implement changes.
  • Develop and maintain a regular download schedule of Quality and health plan reports from various platforms - both internal and external - to support needed operational and financial reporting.
  • Make recommendations to clinic leadership and teams on analytical approach to strategic projects; what questions to ask, what data to review and how to best analyze and report data to make decisions.
  • Writes SQL for custom SQL metrics.
  • Coordinates work prioritized by business customers with Business Analysts, data warehouse and data governance teams to ensure analytics and data standards are maintained.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and formatting skills to share data and transform into actionable information in an understandable manner.
  • Develops and maintains appropriate documentation on all work products

SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative in areas of responsibility.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Proven ability to analyze business reporting requirements and systems functionality to develop and support reporting systems.
  • Ability to maintain a positive disposition and interact with individuals as well as groups.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Sciences, Math, Information Systems, Statistics, related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum of five years' experience with setting up and maintaining databases, and managing servers.
  • Proficiency in SQL programming language.
  • Healthcare education and experience preferred along with demonstrated database development and reporting experience.
  • Minimum five years' data analysis experience with respect to identifying and defining source data using SQL or data profiling tools. SQL experience preferred.
  • Certifications desired in the following Epic applications: Clarity data model, Caboodle data model, Caboodle administration, Clinical data model, and any training needed for the job.
  • Must achieve certification in at least one EPIC application within first 2 years of employment.

Pay Range:
$81,354.00 - $122,031.00

We also offer a 401k retirement plan, with employer contributions after your first year of employment. Benefits-eligible employees accrue PTO and Personal Time based on hours worked and State worked, totaling 120 hours in the first year for full time staff and 200 hours in the first year for full time supervisors and above, increasing in subsequent years. PTO and Personal Time accruals are pro-rated by FTE/hours worked. Non-benefits eligible employees will accrue Personal Time based on hours worked and State worked.
