Job Summary
The Data Engineer is responsible for collaborating with functional business teams as well as technology and infrastructure partners to identify data relationships and gaps. The Data Engineer must have the ability to translate functional requirements in support of strategic goals for data management to technical architecture and then build technical solutions with little to no assistance. The Data Engineer also analyzes and resolves issues related to information flow and content, and they provide expertise around business intelligence, data modeling, cloud infrastructure enhancements, and data generation architecture.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
Have a thorough knowledge of the concepts of Modern Data warehousing in both cloud and on-prem architecture and provides guidance to business analysts.
Can identify similarities and differences between data models that must come together as a result of company acquisitions.
Build and deploy data pipelines in both on-prem and cloud data warehouses.
Design and implement data solutions for Analysis and Data Science teams in a cloud environment.
Design and implement data solutions using both parent organization and acquired organization data for analysis
Develop and implement standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with internal and external regulations.
Define, design, and oversee the systems and applications architecture for both current and future business applications.
Partner with information technology to ensure that applications meet business requirements, have proper documentation, and have processes in place for ongoing support and maintenance.
Examine and identify structural data necessities by evaluating operations, applications, and programming of data systems.
Install and organize information systems.
Evaluate new and emerging technologies and explores new development methodologies to find faster, cost-effective, and reliable solutions for existing and proposed systems.
Recommends solutions to improve new and existing data systems.
Oversee the migration of data from legacy systems to new solutions.
Monitor system performance by testing, troubleshooting, and integrating new features.
Maintain data security and creates standards to ensure system safety.
Offer data support by responding to system problems.
Educate staff members through training and individual support.
Author data design and architecture reports.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or closely related field plus 4 years of work experience in offered or similar position involving technical architecture and build experience with large-scale solutions.
In lieu of Bachelor’s will also accept Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or closely related field plus 2 years of work experience in offered or similar position involving technical architecture and building large-scale solutions.
Work experience must also include at least two years of substantive data modeling, extracting cleaning, preparing and stewarding data involving cloud-based data warehouse technology.
Up to 10% domestic travel required.
