Join our dynamic team as a skilled tradesperson and take on a pivotal role in the upkeep and enhancement of our Data Center systems. This position, which requires minimal supervision, entails a broad range of responsibilities including operating, maintaining, repairing, modifying, and expanding various systems. These systems encompass HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical building systems, building furnishings, and site improvements.
You will be an integral part of our night shift team, working from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Our scheduling is based on the rotating Pitman system, offering a balanced approach to work hours and personal time. This opportunity is ideal for those who excel in a dynamic, hands-on environment under limited supervision and are eager to apply their expertise in multiple skilled trades.
Essential Job Functions:
Join our team as a key player in maintaining and enhancing our Data Center's operational integrity. In this role, you will:
  • Execute a comprehensive range of maintenance tasks, including preventative and predictive measures, troubleshooting, repairs, and installations across various HVAC systems, emergency generators, and general building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment. Your focus will be on swiftly and safely identifying and fixing the root causes of facility issues, adhering to industry norms and regulatory codes.

  • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems specific to a Data Center environment. This includes expertise in managing feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units, chillers, air handling units, and CRAC units.

  • Actively operate, monitor, and maintain facility systems, ensuring prompt response to any abnormal condition.
  • Undertake general building maintenance and repairs, covering a wide array of tasks from drywall and masonry work to painting, ceiling repair, roofing, tiling, carpeting, and window servicing.
  • Oversee and effectively communicate with contractors and other personnel engaged in maintenance, construction, and operational activities. Your role will ensure that all work aligns with contract specifications and adheres to company standards for safety, security, environmental compliance, and conduct.

  • Conduct daily inspections of all Data Center infrastructure, providing systems availability monitoring and reporting. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, including inspection documentation, and submitting timely reports.

  • Show initiative and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrating your skill in handling diverse responsibilities efficiently.

This role is ideal for individuals who excel in multitasking and are committed to maintaining high-quality infrastructure in a dynamic enterprise Data Center environment.
Minimum Requirements:
Educational Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or a GED certificate is required for this position.

Work Experience:
  • Candidates should have a minimum of two (2) years' experience working as a Building Maintenance Technician A or,
  • At least five (5) years of equivalent experience in the fields such as HVAC, electrical work, plumbing, or carpentry.

Licensing and Certification Requirements:
  • A valid state driver's license is required and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Candidates must successfully pass the Construction and Skilled Trades (CAST) test. Preparation resources, including employment testing information, test-taking strategies, and a practice test for the CAST, are available. OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
For this position, we are seeking candidates with the following preferred skills and abilities:
Professional Qualifications:
  • Candidates should ideally be a licensed electrician or a licensed HVAC technician, hold a CFC refrigerant certification, or possess equivalent knowledge and experience in these areas. Note that licensing requirements vary by state.

  • We highly value technical training or certification form Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) in CRAC systems and UPS systems. Candidates should be willing to pursue relevant certifications to enhance their skills.

Work Availability and Environment:
  • Availability for overtime work is essential. This role may involve overnight travel and participation in an on-call rotation for emergency response, as well as providing coverage during holidays and vacations. Flexibility for shift work, including evenings and weekends, is required.

  • This position involves working both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.

Communication and Technical Skills:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are crucial, along with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.

  • Proficiency in using computers for work-related tasks is necessary.

Physical Demands:
  • Continuous standing and frequent walking are typical for this role. Occasionally, the job may involve pushing, pulling, lifting, climbing, squatting, and kneeling. Extended periods of sitting and monitoring building systems are also expected.

  • The position requires the ability to lift, move, and carry equipment weighing up to and exceeding 50 pounds.

  • Work may involve heights, necessitating comfort and safety in such conditions.
