Job description

Samsung SDS America is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Data Center Operations Manager to lead a team of talented engineers supporting a brand new state-of-the-art Data Center at Semiconductor Fab in Taylor, TX. The ideal candidate has technical and managerial experience supporting mid to large enterprise Data Center environments, and has experience managing or playing a leading role with a team of 10+ direct reports.

We are looking for someone who has a strong technical background in IT infrastructure and is familiar with the latest technologies.

The position will support a Data Center for a large Samsung manufacturing facility in Taylor, TX that runs 24/7 all year round. To be successful in this role, The Data Center Operations Manager will need experience with Linux, Windows, Oracle Exadata, and storage. Be a team player with coaching experience, be able to coordinate projects and provide management reports, and be available to support the team during incidents and day-to-day work. This is a leadership role that will build trustworthy relationships with various stakeholders, as well as provide management updates and reports.

We are looking for someone who has a good eye on talented engineers, knows how to hire, and enjoys growing the team. Data Center Operations Manager will make sure SLAs are met, create and enforce SOPs, provide team evaluations, review and approve PTO requests, review and approve main changes, participate in multiple meetings, coordinate and ensure success of yearly site-wide maintenance day.

This position will work onsite in Taylor, TX. Due to the nature of the role, it is essential to live within 1 hour driving distance from Taylor, TX.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement policies, procedures and standards for the operation, maintenance, and support of 24/7 Data Center infrastructure
  • Monitor and manage Data Center performance to ensure service levels are met or exceeded
  • Manage staffing and scheduling for Data Center Operations
  • Oversee problem resolution for Data Center issues, and ensure all issues are addressed in a timely and effective manner
  • Manage ITSM process (Change / CI / Incident / Patch Management)
  • Develop and manage budgets for Data Center Operations
  • Identify and implement best practices for Data Center Operations to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Manage and maintain relationships with vendor and contractor relationships to ensure quality service
  • Lead large IT projects, including the design and deployment of new IT systems and services
  • Monitor performance of information technology systems to determine cost and productivity levels, and to make recommendations for improving the IT infrastructure
  • Help define IT infrastructure strategy, architecture, and processes
  • Analyze business requirements by partnering with key stakeholders across the organization to develop solutions for IT needs
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues related to internal IT if needed
  • Manage a team of 10 direct reports for daily operations, and new projects
  • Develop the hiring plan, identify jobs skill set, interview candidates, make the hiring decisions
  • Onboard new team members
  • Train and develop current team members
  • Fast learn or act as the subject matter expert across all aspects in Data Center Operations

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience working in IT operations in enterprise environment.
  • 5+ years of experience in Data Center Operations.
  • 3+ years of experience managing a team of 5+ direct reports.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong understanding of Data Center hardware, software, and infrastructure (Windows, Linux, Exadata, and Storage).
  • Experience leading and managing large IT projects and rolling out IT infrastructures across various technologies.
  • Excellent working knowledge of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and phone systems.
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent project management skills and strong ability to prioritize.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and follow the company procedures.
