Data Architect

The Group Technology Services (GTS) of the Vulcraft/Verco Group (VVG) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Data Architect.

As a GTS Data Architect, this position will be a technical leader on our data integration and business intelligence team.  This position is responsible for providing technical leadership in building world-class data integration solutions to support business needs. 

    Help define and model the data integration architecture needs across the Vulcraft/Verco group.
    Ensure that industry-accepted Data Architecture principles and standards are integrated and followed to meet technical and business goals.
    Maintain secure, high quality, reliable data delivery.
    Work closely with teams to collect and translate information requirements into data-centric solutions that meet current needs and are scalable to adopt future changes in technology. 
    Be involved and coordination with various project teams across Nucor.
    Be integral in our effort to design and implement a new Data Lakehouse architecture for VVG needing a datastore for raw data and filtered datasets for self-service and IT managed reporting.
    Provide assistance and thought leadership for defining our VVG data management strategy.

This is a full-time, permanent position with the VVG GTS team.  Teammate location may be based in any VVG location, or any Nucor division with the agreement of that division.  A willingness to travel periodically and domestically is required to satisfy project or training demands.

• 5+ years of experience in designing, building, and implementing modern data integration and data warehouse solutions
• Experience in Azure Databricks
• Experience in Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, and/or Data Lakehouses at scale
• Hands-on experience in implementing ETL/ELT solutions with data migration experience
• Experience with popular BI tools such as Power BI and self-service BI environments

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or related discipline.  An equivalent combination of experience and education will also be considered.
• Exposure to data governance and master data management practices
• Experience in integration strategy including roadmap, architecture, and governance model
• Experience with metadata-driven integration and data pipeline architecture
• Experience with SAP and SAP Business Warehouse
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code
• Experience with Terraform
• Experience with CI/CD pipeline
• Experiences working within Agile Frameworks
• Experience with Power BI reporting
