Hendricks Power Cooperative is now accepting applications for the position of Data Analytics Specialist in Avon, Indiana. Hendricks Power is a rural electric cooperative which focuses on distributing electric service to more than 35,000 members within four counties. 

Job Description

Major responsibilities include working with business users to analyze, organize, and prioritize reporting requirements; designing solutions to meet reporting requirements including reports, charts, and dashboards; writing SQL to assist in data requests and business analytics; collect, organize, and analyze large amounts of data; write and perform queries and report writing; design and maintain data systems and databases which includes data cleansing; communicate trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data; use statistical tools to interpret data sets used for diagnostic and predictive analytics; and assist with the collaboration with departments to improve business processes.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (i.e., Data Analytics, information technology, data science, computer engineering) required.
  • 1+ years of experience in business analysis or a related field a plus but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of business intelligence and data visualizations or related experience.
  • Experience as a report writer preferred.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms and/or data lake implementations preferred.
  • Experience in understanding relational databases.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Broad business experience and/or business courses a plus but not required.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as SQL and Python.
  • Knowledge of data visualization software such as Power BI is preferred.

Personal & Position Qualifications

  • Must have strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Fundamental knowledge of accounting principles, the electric utility industry and/or NISC software a plus.
  • Must have fundamental analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Must have the ability to work closely with project owners and help determine acceptable solutions.
  • Must have excellent documentation skills.
  • Must have the physical ability to work inside an office environment and sit at a desk to handle various computer work.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with management, employees, members, customers, and others.
  • Must be able to work effectively on a daily basis with a variety of individuals.
  • Must be able to work independently and have leadership abilities.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English with strong interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be organized, detailed oriented and able to meet project deadlines.

Pay will be based on experience with minimum of $55,000 annually.
