JOB SUMMARY
The Assessment and Evaluation (A&E) Data Analytics Specialist supports and coordinates data and information that is handled in A&E in coordination with IT. This position will produce accurate information and workflow while coordinating Data Analytics with the Director to provide accurate, clear, and real-time data to district and school leaders, community members, and other stakeholders. This position would also coordinate training in the evolution of increased skills for all A&E Teachers on Special Assignment (TSA).
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
All positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check. Additional minimum required qualifications for this position are:
  1. Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (i.e., psychology, business analytics, mathematics with statistics emphasis)
  2. Statistical experience providing a quantitative and qualitative summary analysis for public review
  3. Professional experience writing SQL statements
  4. Professional experience with programming languages of R and Python
  5. Professional experience with data visualization software such as Power BI and Tableau
  6. Professional experience writing and validating survey questions for a range of stakeholder audiences, using programs such as Qualtrics with data connection tools for reporting
  7. Experience collaborating and communicating with Pre-K -12 grade school staff, students, parents, and community
  8. Speak, read, write, analyze, and follow written and verbal communication in English; listen to, and understand information and ideas presented verbally or in writing

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
These are examples of skills and experience that the best-qualified candidates may have. Not having one or all of them does not disqualify any candidate from consideration.
  1. Master's degree in Business Analytics or degree with an emphasis in a quantitative-related field
  2. One (1) or more years of experience writing and validating survey questions for a range of stakeholder audiences, using programs such as Qualtrics with data connection tools for reporting
  3. Two (2) or more years of experience working with Pre-K through 12th grade education data to provide analysts and evaluation
  4. Two (2) or more years of experience with statistical experience and use of isometric tools
  5. Two (2) or more years of experience writing SQL statements
  6. Two (2) or more years of experience with programming languages of R and Python
  7. Two (2) or more years of experience with data visualization software such as Power BI and Tableau
  8. Two (2) or more years of experience developing and testing Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Coordinate Data Analytics with the Assessment and Evaluation (A&E) Director to provide accurate, clear, and real-time data to district, board, school leaders, and other stakeholders
  2. Provide work direction and leadership to the Data Analytics team under the direction of the A&E Director
  3. Holds administrative rights to demographics and other information in the Student Information System (SIS) and coordinates with the A&E Director, and Executive Director of Teaching & Learning (TL) to perform job functions while adhering to federal and state student privacy rules
  4. Facilitate and coordinate external and internal data requests at the direction of the A&E Director, district, and school leaders and comply with the regulations and procedures for any release of student Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
  5. Coordinate data for program evaluation and research tasks, demonstrating an understanding of statistics and program evaluation (i.e., Early Childhood, Educational Equity, and Salt Lake Education Foundation) and its impact on funding and grant reporting, and prepare and review documents and reports for stakeholders
  6. Coordinate training in platforms and languages to build skills across A&E Teacher on Special Assignment (TSA) to ensure cross-training
  7. Create the development of data visualization solutions by crafting tables and visual information graphics to support interactive data storytelling to meet the needs and functions of the district, A&E department, TSA's duties, and schools
  8. Provide oversight and coordination of technology platforms using business intelligence tools (i.e., Power BI, Tableau, Illuminate, Qualtrics; R Studio, Microsoft SQL Server, etc.) in the department
  9. Utilize professional workplace etiquette; exercise sound judgment; maintain confidentiality; be adaptable and understanding of cultural differences; communicate effectively and develop and maintain positive working relationships with others.
  10. Work with limited supervision; work effectively under constant deadlines and time constraints; manage multiple tasks and responsibilities and prioritize accordingly.
  11. Maintain regular and predictable attendance to fulfill job requirements in an efficient and effective manner
  12. Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective operations

EMPLOYEE SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: No
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The usual and customary methods of performing the job functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 90% sitting, 5% walking, and 5% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy office environment.
