Job Summary:

Noetic is seeking a creative, team-oriented researcher who enjoys cybersecurity and product development. This position will be part of an Agile Scrum team responsible for basic and applied research in cybersecurity aimed at creating innovative cybersecurity products. 

Assists in cybersecurity research and development, including basic and applied research as well as funding opportunity review, evaluation, and response.  This includes assisting in staying abreast of the state of the art (e.g., monitoring trends, publications, familiarity with common techniques), identifying gaps, developing novel concepts, experimentation, and prototyping. 

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Participate in Scrum meetings (sprint planning, standups, voting sessions, sprint reviews, sprint retrospectives)
• Work collaboratively with other researchers on the team
• Review and evaluate relevant published materials such as funding opportunities (such as BAA’s or RFIs), technical publications (technical papers, proceedings, journals) or related materials (i.e., presentations, tools) to assist in maintaining an understanding of current opportunities and gaps. 
• Assist in technical writing aimed at responding to identified funding opportunities, generally as it relates to cybersecurity.  Potential examples include elaborating on related research, industry trends, proposed approaches, or algorithms; describing a proposed concept; or summarizing and formatting results for a trade show. 
• Assist in concept development and evaluation activities aimed at creating and evaluating concepts to fill knowledge and/or capability gaps.  These activities will generally be focused at a previously identified gap or need.  Example activities include brainstorming sessions, literature reviews to evaluate uniqueness, or practical experimentation to establish feasibility.  
• Assist in product development activities aimed at refining research, software prototyping, product development, and transitioning activities.  Activities potentially include a large component of product development lifecycle ranging from basic research to establish feasibility, continuing through applied research and software prototyping into supporting Agile software development and transition.  This includes collaboration with existing network, cybersecurity, and software development teams. 

Skillsets:

• Basic familiarity with computer programming and software development patterns such as scripting and object-oriented development (knowledge of Python preferred)
• Basic familiarity with network architecture concepts as they relate to cybersecurity (i.e., TCP, packets, etc.).
• Basic familiarity with existing cybersecurity related tools (e.g., Kali Linux, etc.)
• Ability to learn new tools as necessary
• Ability to learn new languages, libraries, or frameworks as necessary (e.g., Scapy)
• Experience using git and a git repository such as Bitbucket
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate clearly
• Familiarity with Agile principles and Scrum framework
• Ability to work in a team-oriented Agile Scrum environment
• US Citizenship
• Security Clearance Eligibility

Education: Enrolled in a technical degree program at an accredited university

Clearance Requirements: (none required) have the ability to acquire and maintain Secret clearance
