WORK HOURS: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM MONDAY - FRIDAY with ON-CALL WEEKENDS
The purpose of this position is to mitigate information system security risks.
Duties and Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
- Conduct threat and risk analysis and analyze the business impact of new and existing systems and technologies to eliminate risk, performance, and capacity issues. They implement vulnerability assessments and configure audits of operating systems, web servers, and databases and detect patterns, insecure features, and malicious activities in the infrastructure.
- Develop and implement information security standards, guidelines, and procedures.
- Manage firewalls to secure the network infrastructure.
- Keep current with new intrusion methods and develop protection plans. They have an in-depth understanding of vulnerabilities, management systems, and common security applications.
- Response to security threats, attacks, and similar events
- Grant permissions and privileges to authorized users.
- Work with security vendors to customize tools and services deployed within the infrastructure
- Configure anti-virus systems and consoles and conduct software upgrades.
- Guarding protected information or assets from unauthorized access or use
- Evaluating and identifying vulnerabilities and risks in hardware and software
- Determining the most effective ways to secure IT infrastructure.
- Testing security strategies and defenses.
- Monitoring systems continually for intrusions and cyber-attacks.
- Preparing reports to keep organization stakeholders apprised of security activities.
- Discovering and securing potential vulnerabilities
- Analyzing new methods that are being used by cyber criminals.
- Keeping up to date on new trends, strategies, and procedures to thwart attacks.
- Updating security measures in response to ongoing changes and needs.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience
3-5 years of proven work experience as a Cyber Security Specialist or similar role.
Hands-on experience analyzing high volumes of logs, network data, and other attack artifacts.
Experience with vulnerability scanning solutions.
Proficiency with antivirus and security software
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida state driver’s license.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to organize work, establish priorities, meet established deadlines, and follow up on assignments with a minimum of direction and keen attention to detail. Communicates effectively both verbally and written.

Mathematics:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
Reasoning:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
