Introduction
The Division of Enterprise Technology (DET) is seeking a limited term Cyber Security Analyst Intern to support the Bureau of Security! Applicants with training and education in Cyber Security ready to gain some experience are encouraged to apply!
This position will have the option of working remotely upon agreement of the supervisor but may be asked to come into the office periodically. This schedule may change based on operational needs and organizational requirements.

Position Summary
The Division of Enterprise Technology (DET) manages the state's information technology (IT) assets and uses technology to improve government efficiency and service delivery. DET administers enterprise solutions and consults on technology services for state agencies, local government and educational systems.
Working with a mentor, the IS Enterprise Technical Services Professional (Cyber Security Analyst Intern) will function as a technical analyst in Cyber Security incident management for the enterprise ensuring incidents are properly identified, analyzed, communicated, actioned/defended, investigated and reported. We are looking for this person to:
  • Gain situational awareness through continuous monitoring of networks and other IT assets for signs of attack, anomalies, and inappropriate activities.
  • Determine the cause, scope, and impact of incidents to stop unwanted activity, limit damage, and prevent recurrence.
  • Continuously identify and remediate vulnerabilities before they can be exploited.
  • Protecting information on computers that routinely interact with untrusted devices on the internet that may be prone to loss or theft.

This position is expected to participate on cross-functional teams in needs assessment, gathering business requirements, design, testing, implementation and postproduction support and evaluation. The position requires strong communications skills, both verbally and in writing, provides excellent customer service and consulting to internal and external stakeholders.

Salary Information
This position is classed as a IS Enterprise Technical Services Professional and is assigned to schedule-range 07-35. The hourly rate for this position is $18.00 per hour. This position is not exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Job Details
Due to the nature of the position, DOA will conduct fingerprinting and background checks on applicants prior to selection. DOA does not sponsor work visas. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States, and to complete the required employment eligibility form upon hire.
This position is Limited Term Employment (LTE) and is limited to 1,039 hours in 26 consecutive pay periods (1 year).
Wisconsin residency is required for Limited Term Employment positions.
Limited Term Employment (LTE) positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to permanent civil service classified positions and do not lead to permanent status.
Certain positions within this Department may allow remote/work from home flexibility for a portion of their work schedule, depending on the needs of the position and the work unit. This topic and any remote work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have the following:
  • Training, education, or experience with general Cyber Security IT issues (keeping safe from email scams, virus, wi-fi security or similar).
  • Training, education, or experience with Microsoft365
