This vacancy is located in the Special Investigation Section in the Office of State Police located in East Baton Rouge Parish. This posting may be used to fill a job appointment or probationary appointment.
As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Cyber Crime Analyst 1 or a Cyber Crime Analyst 2, depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant.
The Cyber Crime Analyst 1 (pay grade level TS-318) has a minimum salary of $2,770.40/bi-weekly.
The Cyber Crime Analyst 2 (pay grade level TS-319) has a minimum salary of $2,964.00/bi-weekly.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A baccalaureate degree plus one year of experience in digital forensic examinations, cyber security, or cybercrime investigation.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Three years of experience in law enforcement, investigatory work, cybersecurity work, intelligence work, or military intelligence work will substitute for the baccalaureate degree.
A baccalaureate degree in cybersecurity, or a baccalaureate degree in computer science with 12 semester hours in cybersecurity will substitute for the one year of required experience.
NOTE:
Multiple specialized degrees will substitute for a maximum of one year of required experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be eighteen years old at time of application.
An applicant will be disqualified if he or she has been convicted of a felony or if there are any indictments or bills of information pending against him or her in which felony charges are included; or if he or she has been convicted within the past three years of hit and run or driving while intoxicated.
A drug screen will be administered prior to employment.
May be required to possess a valid Louisiana driver's license at the time of appointment.
Must be able to obtain Federal Government security clearances for access to classified information.
NOTE:
Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.
Job Concepts
FUNCTION OF WORK:
To apply highly complex technical techniques in order to conduct research and investigations for the purpose of identifying suspected criminal activities in the cyber environment.
LEVEL OF WORK:
Experienced.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
General from a Cyber Crime Manager. Other reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
None.
LOCATION OF WORK:
The Department of Public Safety and Corrections - Public Safety Services, Office of State Police. Other locations may be approved by SCS.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from other investigative jobs by the presence of responsibility for applying an understanding of highly complex technical techniques in the support of law enforcement activities.
Differs from Cyber Crime Analyst 2 by the absence of advanced-level cyber investigations.

Supports highly sensitive or complex investigations requiring the application of digital forensic techniques, knowledge of complex systems, and/or other methodologies of similar technical complexity.
Collects, reviews and analyzes evidence from computers, computer systems, or computer networks.
Provides technical advice on procedures to be employed by law enforcement personnel; offers interpretations and opinions relative to examination of findings.
Supports emergency response for ESF-17 to triage and conduct analyses into large-scale cyber attacks.
Supports investigations of multi-defendant conspiracies involving complex cybercrimes.
Supports investigations into illegal intrusions derived from the compromising of computers, computer systems, networks, and/or databases.
Consults with prosecutors and other law enforcement officials relative to criminal matters being handled directly by their offices; may be assigned to a federal cyber task force with a law enforcement purpose.
Attends multi-agency meetings with commissioned officers and civilian personnel of law enforcement agencies to assist in explaining new methodologies of investigating cybercrimes.
Assesses new software and hardware technologies; designs processes and may provide technical guidance for the purpose of technology integration into criminal investigative functions.
May provide instruction in the use of new hardware or software for law enforcement purposes.
