Position Overview:
Processes incoming and outgoing calls that have been queued into the switchboard using the communications equipment provided. Announces hospital Emergency Codes over intercom
and phone system as needed. Collections and posting of patient balances and setting up of
payment plans. Assist customers/patients with billing questions and resolve their concerns.
Perform follow-up patient phone calls. Works directly with customer/patient walk-ins in all
aspects of patient accounts.
Essential Functions:
Promotes the philosophy and mission of Montrose Regional Health.
Processes calls promptly and accurately.
Announces MRH Emergency Codes in a clear, calm, and concise manner timely and accurately over intercom and phone system.
Processes cash and adjustment transactions for patients' accounts timely and accurately.
Receives and processes payments for non-patient accounts and accounting accurately.
Reconciles and prepares cash management reports, journal entries, and bank deposits on a daily basis for all OTC departments.
Processes credit card transactions for patients' accounts, insurance remits, and education classes.
Provides assistance to patients needing language translation for understanding bills and making payments.
Completes set up for payroll deduction to patient accounts with accuracy.
Assist patients with requesting medical records and communicating these requests to HIM department.
Assist patients with general billing questions, provide direction on how to resolve concerns, perform account actions as necessary, and all other service tasks related to patient billing.
Completes account work timely and accurately within EHR system.
Ensures MRH documentations standards are followed, and account notations are made on
account and other appropriate MRH systems timely and accurately.
Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
Education and Work Experience
Customer Service experience preferred.
Computer skills required: Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint as well as understanding of Electronic Health Record as it pertains to Patient Access.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to effectively communicate, verbally, and non-verbally, in a clear, concise manner.
Administrative and philosophical compatibility with Montrose Regional Health.
Interpersonal skills and sound judgment necessary to communicate with a wide variety of persons including patients.
The ability to make appropriate decisions based on fact and knowledge is required. The ability to perform detailed work required. The ability to work harmoniously with employees required. Must demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality and show good judgment. The ability to make decisions under pressure and deadlines required.
