SUMMARY
The City of Saco is looking for a friendly and detail-oriented Customer Service Assistant to help the Tax Collector and Finance Director with tasks on a regular basis. This position is responsible for maintaining a high level of professionalism with customers and working to establish a positive rapport with every phone inquiry. Main duties including performing administrative work requiring analytical skills, independent judgment, knowledge of programs, policies, procedures, and regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Handles counter traffic which includes but is not limited to processing of property tax payments and other miscellaneous payments.
- Responds to customer inquiries in a professional manner.
- Answers the City Hall?s main phone line and directs the call to the appropriate department
- Open and process mail.
- Operates computer terminal for financial software applications, data entry, word processing, excel spread sheets, and web-based payment processing.
- Collects excise taxes for motor vehicles and recreational vehicles as well as registering those items for the state?s Bureau of Motor Vehicle.
- Issues various municipal permits and licenses, - State of Maine hunting and fishing licenses, register ATV?s, Boats, and Snowmobiles, process dog licenses.
- Daily balance of cash drawer.
- Performs duties and independent tasks as set forth by the Finance Director and/or Tax Collector. These duties may include assisting the City Clerk or Deputy City Clerk.
