Position: Custodian

Program: MAOF Administration (Los Angeles County)

Salary: $20.00 - $21.60

Status: Non-exempt, Part-Time (29 hours per week)

Reports To: Facilities Manager & Maintenance Supervisor

DEFINITION

The Custodian is responsible for performing custodial duties, minor maintenance and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that buildings and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Custodial reports to the Facilities Manager and cares for the MAOF Facility and equipment. Maintaining these responsibilities will help ensure the health, safety and security of the public.

• Cleans offices, meeting rooms, bathrooms, lunch room, utility room, storage rooms, and any common area;
• Sweeps and mops daily;
• Vacuums runners and all carpeted areas;
• Daily cleans and disinfects washroom floors, toilets, toilet seats, hand dryers, and
• bathroom fixtures, including mirrors;
• Replenish toilet tissue and soap as needed daily;
• Empty all waste baskets and garbage cans daily;
• Keep outside area near exit and entrance clean and clear of cans, paper, etc.;
• Perform and/or report all minor maintenance repairs;
• Report damages and acts of vandalism;
• Spot clean walls and toilet partitions;
• Completes Health and Safety checklists of building assigned and reports
• necessary maintenance to immediate Supervisor;
• Ensure cleaning materials and supplies are stored safe and in an orderly manner;
• Maintain an adequate supply of cleaning materials and supplies;
• Restock materials and supplies timely;
• Sets-up conference room(s);
• Maintains neat personal appearance;
• Regular attendance;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products and equipment;
• Ability to read and understand labels and instructions, particularly on the use and
• application of cleaning chemicals and products;
• Ability to work under minimal supervision;
• Must have negative Tuberculin test (TB) or X-rays;
• Physical and mental fitness to engage in custodial work;
• Must be fingerprinted and receive clearance from DOJ and FBI;
• Must have own transportation, a valid California Driver?s License and required
• Automobile insurance;
• Spanish/English preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The Custodial position is a physically demanding position. The incumbent must spend the entire time work standing, walking, lifting heavy objects, operating light to medium weight cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, sweeping and mopping floors and moving desks and furniture, as needed. The incumbent is required to do a great deal of stretching and bending.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

The Custodial works on a daily basis with equipment and cleaning supplies that can be harmful if not properly utilized and handled. In some cases, these products give off unpleasant odors. The Custodial may have to clean blood, saliva and other bodily fluids that are unpleasant to handle.

SENSORY DEMANDS

Cleaning supplies and materials must be handled properly. If not handled properly, the cleaning materials may cause injury, sickness and/or skin irritation and rashes.
