Job Description
HOURS: 4:30 p.m. – 1:00 a.m., (Approximately) Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday hours as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential:
- Daily cleaning to include, but not limited to, dusting, floor surfaces, entryway, cleaning windows, whiteboards, and all furniture.
- Keep floors clean and in good condition by operating various floor maintenance equipment on a regular basis.
- Keep all waste baskets empty and clean.
- Clean and sanitize daily all restrooms, sanitary fixtures, and drinking fountains.
- Assist with set-up of equipment and furniture for events/activities in the facility.
- Report major repairs, damage, and concerns promptly.
- Remove snow and ice from sidewalks and entryways.
- Assist other employees as needed as a member of the Newton Center team.
- Work independently in a student-centered environment.
- Assume responsibility for securing the facility.
- Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
- Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures, and practices.
Secondary:
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Associate Director of Outreach with input from the Coordinators of Facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Custodial experience.
- Must be a neat and clean individual. Portraying a positive image to students, staff and community members is essential.
- The ability to work as needed, including evening, night, and weekend hours.
- The ability to communicate and cooperate with students and college personnel.
- Physical requirements include but not limited to: safely pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, stooping, walking, carrying, climbing, and regularly lifting up to 75 pounds; possess eye/hand/foot coordination sufficient to operate equipment, tools, etc.
- May work in adverse conditions with possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, tissue, and communicable disease; The ability to understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; Visual acuity to view a computer terminal; use appropriate judgment and to apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; Medium/Indoor and outdoor work environment

HOURLY WAGE and STATUS:
The hourly rate of pay is $11.03/hr, with an additional $.40/hr shift differential for 2nd or 3rd shift for a total of $11.43/hr. Then 90 day and 180 day evaluations to bring base pay to $12.00/hr. The employee in this position will work 40 hours per week. This full-time support staff position is 12-months annual, benefit eligible, nonexempt, and at-will.
