Custodian - Middle Shift

Anticipated Custodian position available at the Lehigh Elementary School, effective on or about July 8, 2024, with full benefits.Middle Shift (3:15 PM to 11:45 PM), Monday through Friday. Flexible to change shifts with proper notice. POSITION: CUSTODIANREPORTS TO: Supervisor of Facilities or Designee and Building Principal JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the cleaning of building facilities as per school standards; maintains the building in order to assist in the learning process.

QUALIFICATIONS:Possesses High School Diploma or EquivalencyAssures compliance with Employment Eligibility, Criminal History Record, Pre-Employment Drug Testing, and Physical Examination/TB Test StandardPossesses strong oral and written communication skillsPossesses interpersonal skills including tact, patience and courtesyExercises courtesy and good judgment in dealing with staff, students, parents, and the publicPossesses ability to maintain high level of confidentialityPossesses experience in custodial duties preferredPossesses a valid driver's license PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:The position holder must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Performs all duties per the daily schedule, as provided by the Director of OperationsCleans rooms, lavatories, drinking fountains, corridors, stairways, windows and other spaces by dusting, sweeping, washing, wet mopping, waxing, vacuuming and using other approved cleaning techniquesRemoves trash and recycling products from buildings; loads vehicles and storage units, if necessarySets up and dismantles rooms, tables, chairs, etc for events, activities and meetings in the buildings, as assignedPossesses ability to operate various types of vehicles - automatic, manual transmission, etc.Assures ability to climb ladders and work at heights up to and exceeding 50 feetPossesses ability to read and follow directions in order to properly mix cleaning chemicalsPossesses ability to operate equipment provided by the district to properly maintain the building and grounds including grass mowing and snow removalRemoves snow and ice from sidewalks and driveways; pulls weeds, trims hedges and bushes, and cuts grassReplaces light bulbs in designated areasMaintains regular and timely attendance SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS:Notifies Director of Operations and/or building principal of any necessary repairs or malfunctionsChecks doors, windows, and gates in designated areas to make sure they are securedReports any heating and air conditioning that is running after hoursReports any irregularities with the building or maintenance systemsPossesses ability to set up and tear down scaffolding and extension laddersPossesses ability to do weekly playground, building and roof checksMay paint up to 4hrs a day/8 hrs a week while school is in session and 4hrs a day/16 hrs a week during summer hoursAttends meetings and trainings as assignedPerforms other duties as assigned PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Possesses ability to understand directions and instructions in order to perform dutiesPossesses endurance to perform job requirementsPossesses ability to lift, carry, push and pull a weight of 50 lbsPossesses ability to lift a weight of 25lbs to shoulder height or abovePossesses ability to stoop and bend in order to operate equipmentPossesses ability to walk, and/or stand eight (8) hours per day MEASURED IN TERMS OF FREQUENCY: A B C DNOT AT ALL OCCASIONALLY FREQUENTLY CONSTANTLY 0% 1 - 33% 34 - 66% 67 - 100% LIFTING: TRANSPORT:Up to 10 lbs: D Up to 10 lbs: D 10 to 20 lbs: C 11 to 20 lbs: CBeyond 20 lbs: B 20 to 50 lbs: CBeyond 50 lbs: B Beyond 50 lbs: B MOBILITY:Demonstrates ability to move about work area to perform job functions: DDemonstrates ability to position self to work with staff and public: DDemonstrates ability to transport materials and supplies to appropriate locations to perform duties: D TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Eight (8) hours per day - forty (40) hours per week; Hourly rate of pay and benefits in accordance with the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.
