Part-time Custodian at Kirkwood United Methodist Church

The Custodial Staff is responsible for the appearance, cleanliness, maintenance and security of the building and grounds of Kirkwood United Methodist Church. This is a part-time position at approximately 15-20 hours per week working primarily on weekday evenings and weekends. Potential to receive paid time off depending on number of working hours. This position reports directly to the Property Manager.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform custodial tasks as assigned by the Property Manager and/or Director of Building and Office Administration. These include but are not limited to:
• Cleaning (vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, disposing of trash, sanitizing services) and assisting with heavy cleaning (waxing and buffing floors, cleaning carpets) as assigned.
• Room set-ups and moving furniture
• Secure building by locking/unlocking doors as scheduled. Ensure that no persons remain in the building when locking up for the night.
• Grounds keeping duties as assigned to include but not limited to: snow removal.
• Communicate with the church office and/or group leaders and monitor the church office schedule as necessary to ensure all rooms are appropriate for the scheduled activities.
• Keep the Property Manager informed of any problems with the facility, equipment or personnel.
• Notify the Property Manager of pending shortages of custodial supplies and other routine maintenance items.
• Be able to work flexible hours and cover other employee’s hours when they are on vacation or sick as needed.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:

• Proven experience as custodian, janitor or in a similar role
• Understanding of cleaning techniques and safety procedures.
• Proficient with handling basic maintenance repairs
• Basic painting and carpentry skills
• Knowledge of basic HVAC and mechanical functions of a large non‐residential building.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and pass a background check
• Motivation to work independently or with others to provide thorough, efficient custodial services to the church.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week

Schedule:

• Day shift
• Evening shift
• Monday to Friday
• Weekends as needed

• Saint Louis, MO 63122: Relocate before starting work (Required)
