Responsibilities:
The job of Curriculum Specialist I was established for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibilities for assisting and supporting school personnel in the design, development, and alignment of standards-based curricula and instructional methodologies in assigned core curricular areas; providing information and serving as a resource to others; coordinating professional development opportunities; and implementing and maintaining services in compliance with established guidelines.
This job reports to Executive Director of Curriculum.
Essential Functions
- Assists with the hiring of teachers for the purpose of maintaining adequate
- Collaborates with internal and external personnel (e.g. administrators, department chairs, other Curriculum Specialists, ) for the purpose of implementing and/or maintaining services and programs.
- Communicates with administrators, teachers, and parents about state standards and requirements for the purpose of conveying
- Compiles data (e.g. curriculum evaluation, MAP testing, ) for the purpose of preparing reports and conveying information.
- Coordinates program components, support needs, and materials (e.g. curriculum development, student performance assessment, testing, professional development, class course description booklets, new classes, ) for the purpose of delivering services in compliance with established guidelines.
- Facilitates meetings, workshops, seminars, (e.g. curriculum meetings, MAP data analysis, etc.) for the purpose of identifying issues and developing recommendations.
- Leads the development and implementation of district summative assessment for the purpose of ensuring the creation of criteria for evaluating the validity of a teaching product .
- Oversees assigned programs and/or projects for the purpose of conforming to district and state curriculum and/or instructional
- Participates in meetings, workshops, conferences, state committees, (e.g. professional development trainings, curriculum conferences, MAP testing workshops, building department and faculty meetings, etc. ) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information.
- Prepares a variety of written materials for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying
- Presents information on a variety of topics (e.g. current practices, methods, curriculum guidelines, ) for the purpose of conveying information and/or making recommendations regarding district curriculum.
- Provides ongoing support to teachers (e.g. orienting, conferencing, curriculum content, teaching methods, ) for the purpose of providing information, making recommendations, and/or developing plans for improving curriculum and/or instruction.
- Researches a variety of topics (e.g. current best practices, instructional materials, methods, curriculum guidelines, ) for the purpose of gathering and/or disseminating information.
- Responds to variety of inquiries (e.g. administrators, teachers, parents, ) for the purpose of providing information and/or direction.
