The Career Education Subject Matter Expert (SME) is responsible for writing and revising activities and assessments, both for online and printed curricula, for multiple Career Education subjects in Grades 6-12. Applicants' primary area of expertise can be in any Career Education discipline, including, but not limited to, business and entrepreneurship, IT and technology, manufacturing, engineering, agriculture, or the trades. In addition to collaborating on projects in their own area of expertise, the writer must be willing to apply their knowledge of instructional design to other career-area projects when needed. This writer must possess a deep knowledge of instructional design and must demonstrate an understanding of best practices in online education. The writer will work directly in online platforms in a fast-paced environment. The writer will need to adhere to house-style guidelines, including accessibility guidelines. This position is project-based, and the writer will follow the instructional design guidelines and requirements of the Stride CRE curriculum team. All content produced will be original.

  • Author and revise course content, including core course instruction, assessments, multimedia, and/or practice games.
  • Use Stride authoring tools and processes, as well as adhere to the instructional design guidelines set forth by the Stride team.
  • Accept and incorporate feedback to produce the most robust product.
  • Provide accurate updates to project management regarding project status.
  • Communicate availability and strive to maintain a consistent time commitment.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Three (5) years of instructional or curriculum experience
Certificates and Licenses: None required.
OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong technology skills, use of media, and instructional design techniques
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including good interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines with creativity, independence, and high standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on large-scale projects, adapt to new environments, and meet new challenges head-on.
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, and so on); Web proficiency.
  • Ability to clear required background check
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in Instructional Design, Curriculum Design, education, or a related field
  • Subject matter expertise in a career area
  • Product development experience
  • Knowledge of best practices associated with designing curricula for online education.

Compensation & Benefits: Stride, Inc. considers a person's education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee's salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position's level and expected contribution, and the employee's benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range.
  • We anticipate the hourly rate range to be $25.00 to $35.00 The upper end of this range is not likely to be offered, as an individual's compensation can vary based on several factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions. Eligible employees may receive a bonus. Stride offers a robust benefits package for eligible employees that can include health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
