**Culinary and BOH Operations Manager**

**Job Description:**

We are a successful NYC Restaurant Group with 5 different locations and restaurants under our umbrella. The restaurants showcase the season’s bounty through vibrant, ingredient-driven cuisines.

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Culinary and BOH Operations Manager to lead our back-of-house (BOH) operations across multiple restaurant locations. This pivotal role requires a seasoned culinary professional with a robust background in high-volume kitchens, exceptional leadership skills, and a keen eye for operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will inspire culinary creativity, uphold the highest food quality standards, and ensure smooth, efficient kitchen operations. Reporting directly to senior culinary leadership, you will mentor and supervise chef teams, monitor financial performance, and drive excellence in our culinary offerings.

**Key Responsibilities:**

**Culinary Leadership:**

- Champion seasonality and local sourcing in menu development.

- Develop and implement innovative menu items, ensuring they meet financial and quality standards.

- Conduct regular tastings and provide constructive feedback to enhance dish quality.

- Visit restaurants quarterly to ensure consistency and excellence in culinary execution.

- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to secure the best ingredients at optimal prices.

**Financial & Operations Management:**

- Analyze weekly financial performance and trends, working with chefs to address any issues promptly.

- Conduct bi-monthly meetings with chefs to review reports and address operational challenges.

- Ensure vendor accounts are current to avoid delivery disruptions.

- Monitor staffing levels and ensure efficient scheduling to meet financial targets while maintaining service quality.

**Training & Development:**

- Observe kitchen operations quarterly to identify and address training needs.

- Organize development events to enhance skills and build team camaraderie.

- Collaborate with the Training Chef to refine and implement comprehensive training programs.

- Update and enforce BOH Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

**Human Resources:**

- Provide guidance on employee rights, benefits, and responsibilities.

- Work with HR on disciplinary issues and ensure adherence to company policies.

- Train chefs on on-boarding, scheduling, and communication tools to standardize processes.

**Safety & Equipment Maintenance:**

- Ensure rigorous quality control and compliance with health regulations.

- Address and resolve equipment issues promptly to minimize service disruption.

- Review maintenance contracts and verify accurate billing for services rendered.

**FOH Relationship:**

- Foster effective communication and coordination between BOH and FOH teams.

- Participate in pre-shift meetings and ensure adherence to service SOPs.

- Collaborate with the Director of Operations to standardize processes and resolve issues.

**Social Media & Promotion:**

- Work with the Social Media Manager to create high-quality content for social feeds.

- Oversee promotional activities and community involvement to enhance the restaurant's profile.

**Leadership:**

- Act as the operational leader for the BOH team, aligning with strategic goals.

- Mentor the BOH Leadership team and oversee their development.

- Continuously seek improvement opportunities in business management, culinary creativity, and technical skills.

**Reporting:**

- Provide daily, monthly, and quarterly reports detailing key issues and solutions.

- Develop and implement reporting standards for BOH operations.

**Qualifications:**

- Proven experience as a Chef or Culinary Director in a high-volume, multi-unit restaurant group.

- Extensive knowledge of culinary techniques, ingredients, and cuisines.

- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.

- Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- A passion for food and a dedication to delivering exceptional culinary experiences.

**Physical Requirements:**

- Ability to stand, walk, and perform various physical activities for extended periods.

- Capacity to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 150 lbs.

- Exposure to various environmental factors, including temperature variations and noise.

**Salary:**

$140,000 - $170,000

**Benefits:**

- Individual Health Care Plan (75% employer contribution), eligible after 30 days of employment.

- Annual Leave: Paid Time off (PTO) offered at two weeks per year in the first year of employment and three weeks per year as of the third anniversary year of employment. The PTO benefit is available after the first 120 days of employment.

- Dining privilege, available once per quarter during Q1 and Q4, and twice per quarter during Q2 and Q3 (a total of six times per year) at company restaurants, eligible after 30 days of employment.
