The mission of the department of Diagnostic Imaging is to provide quality images and treatments to patients in a compassionate and efficient manner.
Under the broad direction of the Radiologist, CT Supervisor, Diagnostic Imaging Manager and the
Administrator of Diagnostic Imaging, the CT Technologist II shall perform advanced CT Biopsy procedures on selected anatomy as requested by the clinician on patients based on age appropriateness criteria. The technologist is expected to perform a variety of procedures with the knowledge and ability to apply the proper scan protocols needed to visualize the anatomy in question.
Serve as a trainer/ resource to new technicians. Must be able to work scheduled weekdays, weekends and "ON CALL" hours as scheduled, if applicable - must be able to cover for the CT Supervisor when not available.
Responsibilities:
- Must possess a complete working knowledge of all CT Scanners to include the CT Biopsy Scanner in the Radiology Department and set up of CT Fluoroscopy
- Must be able to complete the required calibration and understand the Quality Assurance guidelines for CT equipment.
- Must understand and be able to demonstrate knowledge of Pacscan, RadNet Capstone, Powerchart, Tracking Board, RadNet Work-list, Hi-IQ and GE PACS and any other systems necessary to perform the job duties.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of and performance of all CT Protocols, Biopsy Procedures, sterile technique to include Research Protocols and location of all emergency equipment i.e.,crash cart, emergency tackle box etc.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of applying accurate charges for procedures performed and supplies used.
- Maintains accurate levels of supplies and restocks according to inventory needs based on biopsy radiologists' preference.
- Must be able to perform required task with little or no supervision.
- Must use discretion and confidentiality in discussions related to patients (HIPPA), personnel or staffing issues.
Credentials and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma / GED
- ARRT (R) and ARRT (CT) certification required.
- RT Fl License
- BLS certification
- Minimum of two (2) years of previous experience with performing biopsies, invasive procedures, and advanced imaging techniques.
- Competency is all aspects of Radiology and/ or CT, patient positioning, and
radiation protection. - Ability to perform 3D Reconstructions for all CTAs, Liver volumes, PE studies and other exams as requested.
- Ability to train new technologist in all areas of scanning, equipment use, and protocols.
- Exhibits leadership skills and serves as a strong example for the team.
- 2 - 3 years previous experience in all types of CT biopsies, invasive procedures and advanced imaging techniques in the main department and in the IR department.
- Ability to assist radiologist in biopsy procedures, provide patient care, and process images
- Basic computer skills are required.
Preferred:
- Associate degree in radiologic technology with certification in CT Discipline
- Five (5) or more years of experience in a hospital setting preferred with experience in performing biopsies and advanced imaging techniques.
