The Crude Oil trader will be responsible for the development and promotion of Physical Crude Oil and Derivatives trading, based on deep analysis and understanding of the dynamics of the market. The trader will coordinate with the rest of books and offices worldwide and will cover the supply and marketing needs for our refining and upstream business.
The candidate should have strong analytical capabilities and communication skills, experience in Trading physical and paper in the AMERICAS. This role would be especially focused on US Domestic Market & Logistics, and USGC Exports/Imports, with global view of the international market.
Origination and business development capabilities would be relevant.
Responsibilities:
  • Supply, marketing and trading of Crude Oil in the AMERICAS, as part of a global team with offices in Madrid and Singapore.
  • Promote market intelligence and sharing market info with the global team
  • Providing Derivatives Management, defining and executing trading and hedging strategies.
  • Analyzing physical and derivatives market to identify trading opportunities
  • Negotiate and close commercial operations (physical and derivatives) dealing with internal and external clients.
  • Developing US Domestic Market book while having presence in the USGC exports for Light Sweet and Canadian grades
  • Business origination around logistics and exports from the USGC
  • Promoting Crude Oil physical arbitrages (AMERICAS/EUROPE/ASIA) and local trading activity in the AMERICAS
  • Provide service to Repsol internal clients (Refining and Upstream)
  • Remaining current on the legal, compliance and economic issues affecting the hydrocarbon industry.
  • Control and market risk management of all operations related to the trading activity
Required Qualifications
  • The legal authorization to work in the US for any US employer.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in Crude Oil trading
  • Strong knowledge of US Domestic market & Logistics and experience trading in this market
  • Experience in USGC export for Light Sweet and Canadian grades
  • Capable to develop new business opportunities
  • Strong knowledge of international Crude Oil flows and Crude Oil market dynamics and experience trading in these markets
  • Strong communication skills and working in multicultural teams, facilitating communication flows
  • Knowledge of refinery processes and upstream activities
  • Derivatives management experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Spanish language capability will be highly valued
