Salary:

At CIBO, we are committed to driving the transition to more sustainable and regenerative agricultural practices through innovative software solutions.  As a Crop/Soil Model Scientist at CIBO, you’ll be part of a collaborative team of developers, data scientists, agronomists, and remote sensing experts. You will create, improve, and scale agricultural systems models to answer some of the most critical questions of our time related to sustainable production in a changing climate.  You will work with software engineers to ensure our core platform and customer-facing applications reflect cutting-edge sustainability science.  Our culture is built on cross-disciplinary collaboration, learning, and rapid prototyping. Qualifications:

  • Solid foundation in plant physiology, crop science or soil science with particular emphasis on commercial agriculture and current agronomic best practices
  • PhD in relevant discipline (preferred), or MS with equivalent experience (accepted)
  • Experience with developing, implementing or working with process-based models of soil biogeochemistry or crop development, growth and yield for different economically important crops
  • Excellent programming skills in at least one data science language (Python preferred)
  • Excellent collaboration skills


Bonus Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of soil properties and processes
  • Modeling of soil-plant and landscape-level interactions
  • Experience working with different crop models and approaches to apply the models in commercial agriculture
  • Experience with modeling soil carbon and sustainability in cropping systems
  • Understanding of professional software engineering, including automated testing, code review, refactoring, versioning, and databases
  • Experience with mathematics, data science, classical or Bayesian statistics
  • Programming skills in a functional or object-oriented language (e.g. Scala, Java)

Position may be located in any of our four offices.  Would also consider a US-based remote hire, depending on seniority and circumstances.
