Electrical systems include switchgear, distribution, generators, uninterruptable power supplies, DC power plants, grounding and power conditioning systems. The mechanical systems include precision air conditioning equipment capable of efficiently supplying the correct volume, temperature and humidity air to the hardware installed in racks or cabinets. Other systems include extensive building monitoring, water treatment, fire detection and suppression, etc. Other key tasks also performed are Work Package execution and database management.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Able to demonstrate a basic understanding of core technologies such as power (generators, power plant, BDFB, inverters) HVAC (AC, humidifiers) and fire suppression (FM200, fire extinguishers).
- Performs routine regulatory inspections on critical equipment and properties. Maintains service records of preventative and other maintenance performed on facility subsystems.
- Monitors technical facilities for environmental, fire protection and security compliance and risk avoidance. Oversees or coordinate repairs.
- Monitors and maintains the performance of the generators, UPS battery backup systems, DC Power plants and other building operations equipment at the technical facilities.
- Maintains the building monitoring management systems (upgrades, training, investigate alarms, test alarms with other teams).
- Assists in providing fire protection and safety compliance standards.
- Coordinates and accompanies service contractors and vendors performing work at technical facilities (e.g. installation and maintenance of physical HE infrastructure such as racks, doors, walls, alarms, fire suppression, central systems, security access); this may include providing access to facilities and monitoring quality of work to ensure alignment with best practices and related building/state codes.
- Assist with the installation of new power systems, cables, and distribution points.
- Maintains generators, battery plant and BDFBs, inverters in accordance with the documented maintenance program
- Responsible for overseeing the installation and maintenance of HVAC systems, filter changes, temperature monitoring, air flow analysis
- Assures a proper floor plan design, to support equipment needed within the Telecom facilities to expand services to customers is in accordance with the work package.
- Ability to compete dashboard reports to update leadership on all critical facility infrastructure issues.
- Create multiple work Tickets prior to the implementation of all work performed within the technical facility
- Demonstrate the ability to project manage a team of contractors to assure work being performed within the technical facility is in compliance with Cox guidelines.
- Knowledge of MOP documents to include creation and implementation.
Minimum
- High School Diploma/GED and 3 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline; or 5 years' experience in a related field
- Experience in Project Management, Environmental Control Programing, Database Technology, IT Governance, SDLC Methodologies.
- Demonstrate Examples of Self-Organizational Skills and Conflict Resolution.
- 3 or more year of experience or an in depth understanding preferred in related field (i.e. HVAC, powering, facilities maintenance, etc.)
- Strong working knowledge or an in depth understanding of HVAC, electrical, generators, fire suppression, and facility monitoring control systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization
- Valid local State Driver's License and driving record that meets Cox standards
Preferred
- AS/AA or Technical Certification in related discipline desired
- Knowledge or understanding of signal flow layout of Telecom Facilities
- Working knowledge or understanding of Telcordia specifications as they relate to all Telecom Facilities
- Experience or understanding of the telecommunications industry desired.
- Understanding of telecom facility and environmental planned maintenance and monitoring needs
