Position Summary
The critical Care Transportation Paramedic is responsible for the safe transport, and maintenance of high-quality clinical care, of critically ill and/or injured patients via ambulance.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
• Provides and documents individualized patient care, to include patient and personal safety, patient assessments in collaboration with all other healthcare providers, patient re-assessments, maintenance of airway patency, airway intervention, IV access, ECG interpretations, dysrhythmia recognition, drug administration, and all other invasive or non-invasive treatments/therapies.
• Demonstrates competency in paramedic skills and use of patient care/unit equipment as defined by unit specific competencies.
• Adheres to protocols and standards of care as defined and/or assigned by the program Medical Director
• Prioritizes patient care in an ongoing manner in accordance with Standards of Care and Practice
• Demonstrated effective problem solving techniques and conflict resolution strategies
• Effective leadership qualities and ability to delegates tasks and duties to other healthcare team members, in accordance with the patient needs, and within the other team member's capabilities and qualifications.
• Communicate appropriate information regarding patient condition or concerns to other healthcare team members.
Qualifications
Education/Training
• Graduate of paramedic approved program
Licensure/Certification
• Maintains certification as a Paramedic (PMD) in the State of Florida
• Maintains certification as a Critical Care Transport Paramedic (CCP-C) or Certified Flight Paramedic (FP-C)
• Maintains current American Heart Association (AHA) certifications in BLS/Healthcare, ACLS, and PALS
• Maintains current certification in Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or International Trauma Life Support (ITLS)
• Certified with American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), within one (1) year of hire.
Experience
• Two (2) years of experience working in a prehospital, hospital, or non-Transport Paramedic position
• Experience with an emergency EMS transport agency preferred
• Prefer experience in a Critical Care ground or air transport system
