Description: The Crisis Line Worker is responsible for the elements of the Domestic Violence and Sexual Violence Program, including crisis counseling, civil and criminal legal advocacy, medical advocacy, institutional advocacy, and professional training.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated ability in working with domestic violence or sexual violence survivor, and persons in crisis.
- Required to be 40-hour trained in Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence before working directly with clients (training provided by Victim Services).
License or Certification Required: Must have a valid Illinois Driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.
Essential functions of the job:
- Provide direct client advocacy services to survivors of sexual violence and domestic violence.
- Respond to the hotline during non-office hours; provide crisis intervention and information on agency services; and meet clients at emergency departments and shelter clients in local hotels.
- Provide crisis counseling to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault through the hotline.
- Complete all required paperwork for documentation of services and record keeping in a timely manner.
- Understand and maintain client confidentiality as required by law and funding sources.
- Participate in events and awareness activities for domestic violence, sexual assault and social justice issues throughout the region.
- Complete all required programmatic and employment training and documentation.
- Schedule regular supervision with the Training and Data Coordinator to maintain updates and training opportunities.
