Qualifications
Five years of experience in administrative services. Three years of the required experience must have been in compiling, analyzing or processing criminal history information or crash reports, or matching and filing fingerprint records, or law enforcement.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
College training will substitute for the required experience on the basis of 15 semester hours for six months of experience.
NOTE:
College training will only be credited in 15 semester hour increments.

Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.

Direct over Criminal Records Supervisor and/or Criminal Records Auditor. Other reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.

Ensures expungements are processed according to federal and state laws as required by court orders.
Testifies in court as an expert witness when fingerprint identification/comparison or sex offender registration/verification and classification testimony is required.
Reviews and verifies all fingerprint classifications and completed assignments prior to release.
Oversees maintenance of the computerized criminal history (CCH) program and monitors accessibility.
Provides technical supervision of nearly 300 other criminal justice agencies for network access to the criminal history files.
Recommends and implements policy including compliance with Federal directives regarding computerized access by other states to the criminal history records maintained in the CCH program.
Coordinates with AFIS analysts to exchange information, set directives, and direct operations involving unit personnel.
Monitors the Automated Fingerprint Identification System during access by other criminal justice agencies ensuring data base integrity.
Monitors the automated State Sex Offender and Child Predator Registry and associated websites to ensure system integrity.
Reviews, evaluates, and investigates convicted sex offender registrations and criminal history information to ensure compliance with legal mandates and to submit non-compliant offenders for action.
Grants and monitors access of other law enforcement agencies into the State Sex Offender and Child Predator Registry and related law enforcement website.
Drafts and submits ideas for enhanced functionality of the automated database for the Registry and the websites.
Supervises all aspects of tasks performed by Criminal Records Auditor including assigning work, reviewing, approving, and directing revision of individual audit plans and reports; and providing guidance and counsel regarding audit plan development and audits conducted.
Reviews pre-audit documentation.
Verifies any documented violations of State and Federal Law and Departmental policy and regulations pertaining to dissemination or retention of information maintained by BOI.
Exercises authority to require modification or additional research by Criminal Records Auditor.
Reviews final audit reports compiled by Criminal Records Auditor and approves on behalf of agency.
May conduct more sensitive audits or handle matters of great confidentiality related to the audit program.
Forwards audit reports with areas of non-compliance and recommendations for corrective action for review by higher-level personnel.
Reviews recommendations of Criminal Records Auditor for approval or disapproval of requests for connectivity to any network providing access to these systems.
