Job description

Job Title:Crewperson 3 - Food Delivery Driver

 

Position Function: Under the direct supervision of Food Production Warehouse and Delivery, responsible is to deliver food, groceries, and paper supplies for an assigned route in a professional, safe and sanitary manner.

 

Essential Performance Responsibilities:

  • Deliver perishable and non-perishable food products, groceries, and supplies on an assigned route in a timely, accurate manner in accordance with HACCP guidelines. Assists managers in putting up food products as needed
  • Deliver catering and box lunch specials and other equipment and supplies as assigned
  • Pick up hot & cold transport carriers as applicable if assigned to routes and unloads the carriers in the Food Production Center. Lines up carriers in rows according to assigned routes for the next day delivery
  • Observe all laws governing the operation of commercial motor vehicles weighing up to and over 26,000 pounds. Performs all delivery responsibilities in a safe manner and abides by Department of Transportation regulations
  • Process all delivery forms & records in a timely, accurate manner
  • Recommend any improvements for delivery to the Technician V- Delivery
  • Perform preventative maintenance on trucks (checks oil, tires, and lifts). Keeps exterior and interior of trucks clean and free of trash. Responsible for washing of trucks. Reports any malfunctions of equipment to Technician V- Delivery
  • Perform all services and duties on any assigned food delivery routes. During layover at Food Production Center delivers hot shots/call backs or does the assigned jobs designated by the Supervisor or by the appropriate department technician to which they are assigned
  • Perform all assigned duties in other areas of the nutrition service warehouse. This could include pulling stock from freezer; loading and unloading delivery trucks; secondary food route; unloading transport trucks; or janitorial work
  • Serve as a member of the Food Drivers Team in the Food Production Center
  • Prepare, assemble, and serve food as needed for the Summer Nutrition Program

 

Additional Duties:   Perform other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor of Food Production Warehouse and Delivery.

 

Equipment: The employee must demonstrate the ability to use various equipment assigned to the job position as needed. This position may require the ability to use iPads in addition to basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machine. Must always comply with USD 259's guidelines for equipment use.

 

Travel: Travel between schools and central offices is required.

 

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Attendance at meetings is required
  • Ability to work overtime on short notice may be required
  • Ability to work indoors in extreme heat and cold and outdoors in inclement weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, or snow
  • Limited (0-1 hour): Below the waist reaching, overhead reaching, Standing, Climbing/ Balancing (stairs, ladders, other), Crawling, Lying down (back, side, front), Keyboarding/ mouse, Repetitive motion (multiple manipulation of same muscle group), High impact vibratory tools (bucking/ riveting), Low impact vibratory tools (drilling/ sanding)
  • Occasional (1-3 hours): Total reaching, Waist to shoulder reaching, Walking, Bending at the waist, Kneeling, Crouching (squatting), Forceful gripping, Fine finger manipulation
  • Frequent (3-6 hours):Sitting, Operating foot controls, Flexion (head bend down and head bend back), Twisting at the waist
  • Constant (6-8 hours): Rotation of head/neck, Handling/ grasping
  • Exposure to: Odors, fumes, gases, and chemicals (cleaning solutions)

  • Must be able to read delivery tickets and have knowledge of locations of Wichita streets

Interrelations:

  • Contact with personnel within the district and with customers and vendors
  • Will be working under the direct supervision of the department supervisor in order to complete day to day tasks
  • Will be working with a diverse population requiring the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy
  • Must understand and respond appropriately to customer needs and maintain a positive attitude with all customers and colleagues
  • Expected to interact with all internal and external customers in a friendly, professional manner and provide quick, responsive customer service 

Employee Punctuality and Appearance:

  •        In order for schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave
  •        Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee's supervisor or building administrator
  •        All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of USD 259 and is appropriate for their position

Qualification Profile:

  • A High School Diploma or GED is preferred
  • A valid Kansas driver's license is required

FLSA Status: Non-exempt
