This job consists of an 8 hour work day, 5 days a week at our Mentor Location.
Simply, a Crematory Operator is an individual that:
- performs the duties leading up to the cremation,
- performs the act of cremation (operation of the equipment),
- and performs duties completing the cremation process (recovery of remains from cremation chamber, processing or pulverization, and transfer of cremains to temporary container or urn).
Before applying for this job, you should know that you will be working around and near somebody’s deceased loved one throughout your daily work.
The following phases are duties that fall within the scope of practice for a Crematory Operator Permit holder:
- Attending a seminar to obtain your Crematory Operator License.
- Tracking the deceased once they are in our care through our custom built platform
- Identifying, fingerprinting, and preparing the loved one for storage
- Completing the cremation log document prior to cremation
- Storage after arrival of the case following removal/transfer
- Review of paperwork (three documents needed before cremation process: removal/transfer documents, cremation authorization form, identification)
- Preparing a loved one for a final goodbye
- Cremation
- Recovery of cremated remains from cremation chamber
This Jobs also consists of duties outside of the crematory process as well, such as;
We transport the recently deceased from homes, hospitals, or other facilities, to the funeral home, or medical examiner on behalf of funeral directors or coroners.
Funeral Removal Technicians are responsible for the care, removal and transportation of human remains according to law and company standards.
- Performs removals of deceased from hospital, nursing home, or a residence then transport to Personal Care Center, mortuary, or funeral home
- Ensures removal vehicle and other equipment is clean inside and out and properly maintained
- Maintains valid Ohio drivers license and clean driving record
- Maintains professional appearance and wears appropriate attire (as per employer policy)
- Interacts courteously and respectfully with the families of the deceased
Quality candidates must be hard-working, polite, MUST be able to work flexible on-call hours, have reliable transportation and be in good physical condition.
Heavy lifting required (ability to lift a minimum 100 lbs)
Also you will be required to;
- Keeping and maintaining a clean and sanitized front and back of the building. (Vacuuming, dusting, cleaning throughout building)
- Obtaining death certificates from local vital statistics centers. (using your own car, gas charges will be reimbursed)
- Shoveling the front walk way entrance and salting when applicable.
- Salting the parking lot when applicable.
