POSITION SUMMARY:
The Credit Officer is a forward-thinking integral part of the credit senior leadership team. Provides strategic leadership for the credit quality and underwriting operations of the commercial loan portfolio. Assists the Chief Credit Officer in the overall credit related activities by monitoring the performance of the bank's loan portfolio, maintaining effective Credit Risk management practices, while identifying emerging risk, and preserving profitability for the bank. In conjunction with the Chief Credit Officer, monitors and supports adherence to the credit culture and overall management of the Bank's loan portfolio, loan documentation and credit risk functions. Serves as an advisor on issues associated with loan policy, deal structuring, underwriting and other risk management areas. Participates in the CRA lending effort, and credit related compliance efforts. Through close collaboration with the Director of Commercial Lending, Community President, and Credit Manager, the Credit Officer must challenge the safety, soundness, effectiveness and growth of the overall portfolio and each client relationship to balance credit quality with aggressive loan growth targets. Supports and influences the credit culture of our growing bank and ensures continued commitment to the communities we serve. Oversees Vice President of Loan Administration. Ensures adherence to established bank loan procedures, practices and reporting requirements. Conducts relationships and activities consistent with established Bank policies, procedures and systems, the corporate code of conduct, Bank Secrecy Act and all applicable State and Federal laws and regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures adherence to credit quality, credit risk, and portfolio management.
Collaborates with commercial team, credit team, holding company lending leadership, and auditors.
Reviews, challenges, and recommends loans to loan committee, ensuring consistency and accuracy. Review and approve CRE/C I loan policy exceptions, when appropriate and properly mitigated.
Supports leadership and development culture for highly motivated, product- knowledgeable, fast-paced, customer-focused commercial team that provides a fast and predictable life-of-loan process that beats customers' expectations for service and mitigates risk of loss.
May sponsor operational improvement initiatives for the CRE/C I lending areas and lead the establishment of a continuous process and culture improvement.
Monitors bank's portfolio of loans and commitments on a daily basis to meet the needs of the client and to maintain the credit quality standards of the bank.
Supports overall financial performance and portfolio management including deposit gathering growth, loan volume growth, fee income growth, calling and prospecting activities, management of past dues, and charge-offs as required to meet or exceed the profit contribution for the division. Includes Commercial Real Estate performance monitoring of CRE construction and term loans.
Obtains credit concurrence and coordinate pricing approvals.
Protects the Bank's assets and maintain quality of portfolio by upholding lending processes, policies and procedures, legal and ethical requirements and regulations, audit requirements, and established risk guidelines. Works with commercial and operations teams to remediate gaps and implement improvements identified between existing practices and regulatory and/or audit requirements.
Completes compliance training and adheres to internal procedures and controls as required.
Reports and addresses any known violations of compliance policy, laws, or regulations and addresses any suspicious client of account activity.
Provides meaningful input and research for implementation of strategic initiatives around lending products, markets and platforms.
Provides advice and guidance to lenders and lender support staff through training and development.
Collaborates with Community Banking President and Director of Commercial Lending to emphasize customer retention, new business, effective pricing, and the cross-selling of the bank's suite of financial products and services.
Engages with commercial team and other internal business partners to maximize depth of client relationship across all lines of business.
Develops and maintains constructive relationships in all areas of the bank and holding company, the financial community, and other institutions to enhance performance and relationships.
Assists Chief Credit Officer to ensure lending staff's thorough knowledge and understanding of compliance and regulatory issues relating to loan policy and procedures (i.e. CRA, Fair Lending, etc.) evidenced by appropriate application of these regulations in day-to-day operations.
Completes or attends all required training.

Requirements
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in finance or business preferred; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Eight or more years lending experience with detailed knowledge of current bank lending practices, procedures and policies, lending regulations (state and federal), lien laws, collection/bankruptcy regulations, and loan documentation. Strong knowledge of commercial, mortgage and consumer lending.
Strong ability to analyze financial statements and loan risk. Thorough understanding of financial and credit risk analysis. Deep knowledge of cash flow, collateral valuation, appraisal procedures, and documentation. Knowledge of accounting, regulations, policies and procedures applicable to lending function. Must possess an in-depth level of credit knowledge. Must possess good judgment skills.
Ability to research and solve problems, work independently, handle confidential information and manage multiple tasks.
Thorough knowledge of bank products and services.
Demonstrated management and coaching skills for lending staff.
Ability to read, write, and speak English.
Excellent verbal, listening and communication skills. Strong customer relations skills and ability to work with employees and customers in a cooperative manner. Ability and desire to work as part of a team, and with people of diverse backgrounds.
Ability and desire to represent Central Bank of the Ozarks in the community.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to resolve conflict situations.
Ability to use PC and telecommunications for organizational advantage and communication.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to drive a vehicle. Must maintain a current, valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record for bank insurance purposes.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY DEMANDS:
Regularly required to sit; stand; walk; talk; see and hear. Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. Regularly required to drive.
Frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision.
