Summary / Objective
The Credit Assistant will provide general support to the Credit Department under the direction of the Credit Manager. Responsibilities involve performing various credit administrative tasks including financial statement spreading, financial statement requests and tracking, annual review and covenant tracking and assisting in the administration of the Bank's credit policies. The assistant may also perform market research and perform other duties as assigned. The position involves credit underwriting training.
Experience & Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or Accounting preferred
Background in financial industries retail, commercial lending and/or credit department
Good interpersonal, communication & computer skills
Essential Job Functions:
Oversees and manages financial information files to assure current financial statements, accounts receivable and other information on customer accounts are up to date.
Spread financial statements for businesses and individuals' applying for credit using the Bank's spreading system or Excel.
Maintains a system for collecting, tracking and recording customer financial statements.
Maintains knowledge of department policies and procedures through internal and external training activities.
Monitors adherence to loan policies and credit risk review policies
Works under general supervision and in compliance with established policies, procedures and regulations
Required knowledge, skills & abilities:
Strong understanding of accounting principles with ability to prepare and analyze financial statements.
Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, and Excel.
Advanced written, oral, and interpersonal skills with ability to prepare and make presentations.
Ability to apply critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Ability to adapt to changing demands and requirements.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Ability to use standard equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers
Work involves standing and walking for brief periods of time, but most duties are performed from a seated position
There is potential for eyestrain from reading detailed printouts and computer screen. Deadlines, workloads during peak periods and pressure may cause increased stress levels
