Requirements / Qualifications

THE POSITION: The Credentials Specialist provides assistance to teachers, school districts, and private educators in processing applications for credentials and issues Temporary County Certificates. This position reports to the assigned administrator.

LOCATION: 313 W. Winton Ave. Hayward, CA 94544

TYPICAL DUTIES: Advises, assists, and counsels teachers, school districts, and private educators regarding teacher certification and credentialing in person, by email, or on the phone. Assesses CTE teacher candidates’ work experience for recency and overall three year requirement. Verifies and registers credentials; enters credentials information into and maintains database of credentialing information. Evaluates and processes complex applications to be submitted to the Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Reviews applications for Temporary County Certificates and issues them when requirements have been met.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Associates of Arts Degree (AA) preferred.
Experience: Two (2) years of increasingly responsible clerical or secretarial experience involving frequent public contact. School District or County Office experience preferred.
Equivalency: Equivalent combination of education and experience.

APPLICATION SCREENING & EXAMINATION PROCESS: A review of the candidates’ EdJoin Online Applications to verify possession of minimum qualifications. Those candidates who complete the EdJoin Online Application and who possess the minimum qualifications for the class will move on to the next step in the examination process. Those invited to participate will be notified via email of the date, time, and place of the examinations. We reserve the right to make changes to the announced examination components.

THE PROCESS IS AS FOLLOWS:
1. Application Review......................................PASS/FAIL
2. Written Examination*......................Weighted 50% (Monday, April 8th, 2024 @ 2pm)
3. Technical Oral Interview*...........................Weighted 50% (Thursday, April 11th, 2024)
4. Final Interview .............................................(TBD)
* Candidates must attain a minimum score of 70% on all scored examinations and this eligibility list is valid for 6 months.
