Job Description
Essen is currently seeking Credentialing Assistant for our Credentialing Department.
The Credentialing Assistant is responsible to coordinate and assist with the day-to-day administrative functions of the Department.
The selected candidate will have excellent written communication skills, able to multitask and manage time effectively. Provide administrative support to the Onboarding team within the Credentialing Department, including but not limited to:
- Provide a smooth onboarding process for medical and ancillary providers
- Oversee the overall onboarding processes for employed and affiliated providers joining Essen Healthcare.
- Monitor the onboarding processes to ensure deadlines are met, providers are added to the appropriate Intranet site, and onboarding tasks are complete prior to provider’s start date.
- Conduct calls to medical providers to obtain necessary information & answer any questions medical providers may have
- Critically evaluate application for completeness and log any missing documentation. Evaluate any issues that may require special consideration, or additional review, and take appropriate action to resolve issue
- Scan / save providers CV’s and other pertinent documents into the Company’s credentialing database; including but not exclusive to their license, DEA, NPI, education / training documents, Malpractice, Boards, etc.
- Prepare weekly and/ or monthly reports
- Collaborate with Medical Billing/HR/Recruitment/HR Departments, etc.
- Comply with Credentialing Policy and Procedures, Departmental Guidelines and Company Policies
- Document all tasks, phone calls, emails and other forms of communication during onboarding process.
- Complete other tasks or projects as assigned
- Assist to maintain credentialing files for all active providers
- Provide back-up to other Credentialing staff as necessary
The successful candidate will have the following Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Health-Related Discipline: Public Health, Healthcare Administrative, Health Service, Psychology or Sociology Highly Preferred
- High School Diploma Required
- Minimum of at least six months in a healthcare setting: providing clerical support or medical credentialing assistance. Preferably 1-2 years of relevant office / credentialing experience.
- Superior interpersonal skills to effectively interact with various levels of group practice leadership, as well as health care providers.
- Ability to communicate and process highly confidential information and exercise proper judgment and discretion in performing duties.
- Exceptional organizational, analytical and written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with MS Office (outlook, word, excel, power point, access)
- Excellent time-management skills.
- Knowledge of practitioner credentialing procedures and standards.
- Working knowledge of clinical operations and procedures.
- Informational research skills.
