Baby-Friendly USA (BFUSA) is a growing organization whose mission is to improve maternity care practices that support breastfeeding. We are the accrediting body and national authority for the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI). In this capacity, BFUSA is responsible for coordinating and conducting all activities necessary to confer the prestigious Baby-Friendly designation.
Essential Capabilities:
- Utilizes previous experience with maternal care practices and or lactation credentialing to provide professional review of assessment reports using the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding Guidelines and Evaluation Criteria (GEC).
- Provide feedback in a timely manner using excellent critical thinking, verbal, written and organizational skills.
- Assists the Accreditation Director in the operations of the Department by working with Assessors and External Review Board members.
- Must be comfortable learning how to use the technology used to carry out work and supporting others as they learn to use it.
- Capable of documenting tools used to successfully complete job and aid in developing processes.
Work Environment:
- The job is performed in an office environment with the potential of a partially remote work schedule. There is a potential of travel and outside of office work duties to support assessors on assessment.
- Use of computer 100% of time and capacity to use two screens to review reports.
Education/Experience/Technology Requirements:
- RN with maternity care practices experiences, or a CLC with a bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to work with breastfeeding families.
- Knowledge of the BFHI, and the GEC.
- Supervisory abilities to include screening candidates for employment or volunteer roles.
- Ability to model excellent communication and counseling skills.
Position Summary: The Accreditation Review Specialist is the second reader on all assessment reports. Upon completion of the administrative review, they are responsible for the successful operationalization of the further review of Assessment reports by the External Review Board. This role assists in the recruitment as well as training of ERB members and Assessors and the functioning of those teams with the Accreditation Director. Reviews all complaints pertaining to designated facilities and the implementation of the Guidelines and Evaluation Criteria.
