Position: Instructor and Assistant Teacher
Reports To: Director of Children’s & Primary Divisions and Director of Curriculum
Employment Status: Non-Exempt / Part-Time
Position Description: Instructor as part of the core teaching team for CPYB’s Children’s Division with specific focus on Creative Movement, Pre-Ballet & Tap
- Assistant Teacher - Assist Division Director with classes to learn the curriculum, teaching philosophies and become familiar with children
- Part-time teaching schedule
- Provide exceptional instruction and training of the highest quality
- Create a supportive, nurturing, warm, encouraging and inspiring environment
- Ongoing curriculum education and training
- Effectively implement/teach the curriculum and follow its defined timeline
- Regular communication regarding students, curriculum etc. with Division Director
- Support as needed in Children’s Division programs, showings and offerings
- Summer week-long camps: Dance Me a Story Summer Camp Assist/Teach
- Teach and/or assist with off-site Children’s Division classes, offerings and programs
Position Details:
Hours
- Academic Year class hours fall within: Monday through Friday 4:30pm – 7:30pm, Saturday 9:00am – 12:00pm (subject to change)
- Off-site programs and offerings may occur outside of regular teaching hours
- Special events, showings, performances and other offerings may occur outside of regular hours
- Summer camps will include morning/daytime hours

- Pay rates are commensurate with experience. Pay rates differ for assisting and teaching
- CPYB’s Proven Syllabus® is copyright protected. Curriculum content may only be taught at CPYB and for CPYB programs. CPYB Instructors and Assistant Teachers must sign a non-compete agreement

Position and Division Notes:
Children’s Division - Where the love of ballet begins for children ages 3 – 6. Classes include Creative Movement, Pre-Ballet and Tap. Students learn, grow and explore through the curriculum and in conjunction with the unparalleled training associated with CPYB’s teaching philosophies, core values and cultural beliefs/behaviors. This curriculum is age-based, designed to encourage the developmental skills and foundational concepts needed for general well-being and future ballet training. The nurturing and structured environment develops each student’s focus, discipline and teaches them how to work in a group and understand the expectations associated with ballet training. It is a great honor and responsibility to teach and guide Children’s Division students through their first experiences with ballet and the arts.
A Children’s Division Instructor and Assistant Teacher provides great care and high-quality instruction. They exhibit patience, problem solving, love for children and embody the joy and excitement needed to shape the future of CPYB by inspiring its youngest students, so they eagerly move into the Primary Division prepared for all future training at CPYB.
Timeline: Start date – February through May 2024, continues with 2024 summer camps and 24-25 Academic Year
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 2 – 5 per week
