Reporting to the Creative Director, the Creative Lead, User Experience (UX)/User Interface (UI) Design will lead a talented group of game designers and UX/UI designers to help define our future as we continue to craft unparalleled, immersive experiences which bring players into the game. The Creative Lead, User Experience (UX)/User Interface (UI) Design will have fluency in the intricacies of the Minecraft universe and bring experience in leading and managing a team of designers.

You are a visionary leader who has worked with teams of engineers, designers, and artists to strategize, design, and develop seamless and emotionally resonant User Experiences. You are capable of balancing game design with UX principles, ensuring a seamless integration of interfaces within Minecraft’s immersive world. Your meticulous attention to detail empowers you to identify risks, steer development with precision, and question our methodologies for ongoing enhancement.

You place a significant emphasis on relationships and collaborative teamwork, leveraging these qualities to inspire and lead teams toward their optimal performance. Responsibilities Develop and articulate a compelling vision for UX (User Experience)/UI (User Interface) design within the Minecraft ecosystem, aligning with the overall product strategy and business goals. Lead and inspire a team of talented designers, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and innovation. Drive processes that enable cross functional collaboration, strategic workflows, data driven research, inclusive ideation, design iteration, and production workflows. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product owners, engineers, and designers, to ensure a cohesive and player-centric design approach. DrivUXUX/UI design principles within the Minecraft universe and its related features, ensuring they are intuitive, engaging, emotionally resonating, and aligned with the brand. Conduct user research, analyze player feedback, and leverage analytics to inform design decisions, continuously iterating to enhance User Experiences. Demonstrate an understanding of Minecraft, its gameplay mechanics, and the broader gaming community to ensure the User Experience resonates with players. Other Embody our Culture (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/about/corporate-values) and Values (https://careers.microsoft.com/us/en/culture) Qualifications Required Qualifications: Associate's Degree in Art, Game Design, or related field AND 8+ years relevant internship/work experience (e.g., game development and design, systems design, content production) OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Art, Game Design, or related field AND 8+ years related work experience (e.g., game development and design, systems design, content production)o OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Art, Game Design, or related field AND 6+ years related work experience (e.g., game development and design, systems design, content production)o OR equivalent experience. 5+ years people management experience. 8+ years of experience in leading UX (User Experience)/UI (User Interface) design initiatives, with a focus on gaming. 5+ years of experience managing and leading a team of designers, with a portfolio showcasing projects within gaming case studies or related fields. Preferred Qualifications: Understanding of design principles, UX/UI best practices, and emerging trends. Team leader with organization skills who can hold a Point of View and navigate prioritization of initiatives based on studio performance metrics. Knowledge and passion for Minecraft, including an understanding of its player base, differences between the platforms and the various modes they offer, and the features and services surrounding the games. Ability to articulate and implement a visionary design strategy that aligns with the broader goals of the studio. Communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Experience creating massive intricate structures in Minecraft both in creative and survival modes, and/or having familiarity with 10+ popular Minecraft mods. Communication, writing, and presentation skills Game Design M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S.

is USD $133,600 - $276,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $304,200 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
