Position: Creative Barber/Stylist
Job Summary: As a Creative Barber/Stylist at Hair Collective, you will have the opportunity to showcase your artistic talent, uplift individuals through positive self-care, engage with the local community, and provide a platform for local artists and creatives. Pay Structure: We offer a flexible pay structure to accommodate your preferences. You can choose between:
- Commission-based compensation, where you earn a percentage of the services you provide.
- Flat rate chair rent, allowing you to rent a chair within our establishment and manage your own client base and earnings.
Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional hairstyling services to a diverse clientele, including haircuts, coloring, styling, and treatments.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their unique visions and translate them into personalized and beautiful hairstyles.
- Stay updated on the latest trends and techniques in hairstyling and incorporate them into your work.
- Create a welcoming and positive atmosphere for clients, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction.
- Actively engage with the local community, building relationships, and promoting Black Cat as a platform for local artists and creatives.
- Showcase and support the work of local artists by displaying their artwork within the salon/barbershop.
- Advocate for positive self-care and mental health, promoting self-confidence and well-being through hairstyling.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace that reflects the aesthetic and values of Black Cat
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a barber or hairstylist, with a strong portfolio showcasing diverse hairstyles and techniques.
- Valid barber or cosmetology license, demonstrating proficiency in hairstyling techniques and knowledge of industry regulations.
- Possession of business insurance or willingness to obtain it to ensure adequate coverage and protection.
- Expertise in a wide range of hairstyling services, including cutting, coloring, styling, and treatments.
- Excellent communication skills to understand clients' desires and provide professional recommendations.
- Creativity and an artistic mindset to bring clients' visions to life and create unique hairstyles.
- Passion for community engagement, supporting local artists, and fostering an inclusive environment.
- Knowledge of current trends and techniques in the hairstyling industry.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Existing clientele and connections within the local art community are a plus.
