Position: Creative Barber/Stylist

Job Summary: As a Creative Barber/Stylist at Hair Collective, you will have the opportunity to showcase your artistic talent, uplift individuals through positive self-care, engage with the local community, and provide a platform for local artists and creatives. Pay Structure: We offer a flexible pay structure to accommodate your preferences. You can choose between:

• Commission-based compensation, where you earn a percentage of the services you provide.
• Flat rate chair rent, allowing you to rent a chair within our establishment and manage your own client base and earnings.

Responsibilities:

• Provide exceptional hairstyling services to a diverse clientele, including haircuts, coloring, styling, and treatments.
• Collaborate with clients to understand their unique visions and translate them into personalized and beautiful hairstyles.
• Stay updated on the latest trends and techniques in hairstyling and incorporate them into your work.
• Create a welcoming and positive atmosphere for clients, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction.
• Actively engage with the local community, building relationships, and promoting Black Cat as a platform for local artists and creatives.
• Showcase and support the work of local artists by displaying their artwork within the salon/barbershop.
• Advocate for positive self-care and mental health, promoting self-confidence and well-being through hairstyling.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace that reflects the aesthetic and values of Black Cat

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a barber or hairstylist, with a strong portfolio showcasing diverse hairstyles and techniques.
• Valid barber or cosmetology license, demonstrating proficiency in hairstyling techniques and knowledge of industry regulations.
• Possession of business insurance or willingness to obtain it to ensure adequate coverage and protection.
• Expertise in a wide range of hairstyling services, including cutting, coloring, styling, and treatments.
• Excellent communication skills to understand clients' desires and provide professional recommendations.
• Creativity and an artistic mindset to bring clients' visions to life and create unique hairstyles.
• Passion for community engagement, supporting local artists, and fostering an inclusive environment.
• Knowledge of current trends and techniques in the hairstyling industry.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Existing clientele and connections within the local art community are a plus.

Pay: $60.00 - $100.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 – 40 per week
