Court Reporter (111674 Black Hawk Co)

The 1st Judicial District of the Iowa Judicial Branch has an immediate opening for a Court Reporter with the following County:

• Black Hawk County under Judge Jacobsen

Responsibilities:
Job duties include but are not limited to:

• Captures court testimony and proceedings with stenography machine.
• Reads back court testimony and proceedings upon request.
• Prepares transcripts, performs general office work.
• Marks and records exhibits during court proceedings.
• Performs related work as determined by Judge, Chief Judge or designee.
• Electronic document filing required in all counites within District 1.
• May be required to work for any Judicial Officer in the 1st District per operational needs.
• May require travel

Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.Graduation from high school (GED); graduation from a school of court reporting with courses including legal and medical terminology, English, typing and law.
Must be certified as a Court Reporter by the Iowa Board of Shorthand Reporters or become certified within one (1) year of hire.
