*PT/PRN hours are based on working 59 hours or less per two-week pay period
SCOPE OF ROLE
Reporting to the Supervisor, Laboratory Services, the Courier, Laboratory Services is responsible for the pickup and delivery of medical specimens including blood and bodily fluids, packages, mail and other items as assigned at all Signature Health locations, as well as basic vehicle maintenance.
HOW YOU'LL SUCCEED:

• Actively fulfill courier needs between various Signature Health locations as scheduled by your Supervisor.
• Ensure timely, cautious, and accurate transport of all required deliveries in an efficient and courteous manner.
• Carefully handle all movement of lab items from the office to the vehicle and from the vehicle to the lab taking care to avoid prolonged exposure of blood and bodily fluids to temperature extremes.
• Maintain up-to-date training in appropriate safety and security guidelines around handling sensitive materials and blood and bodily fluids.
• Analyze, read and follow maps and directions to client locations.
• Maintain clear communication with staff, referents or designated liaison persons.
• Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid unencumbered Ohio driver's license and proof of driver's insurance required.
• Able to lift 50 lbs. on occasion required.
• 3-5+ years' experience in transporting biological, sensitive or important items required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office/clinical work environment.
• While hours of operation are generally standard, flexibility to work evenings and extended hours may be required.
• Requires periods of sitting, standing, telephone, and computer work.
• Hearing: adequate to hear clients or patients in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.
• Speaking: adequate to speak to clients or patients in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.
• Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
• Physical effort required: occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 15 pounds, unassisted.
• Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens while performing job duties.
• Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular workday.
• Sufficient dexterity to operate a PC and other office equipment.
